Final Trades & All Stars

Rockets Take (18-26, 12th seed)
Houston is looking to shed salary and even after this trade has six 1st round picks in the next two years if they all convey. They shed his 19 million salary as Beverly is a expiring who will be bought out. Mann gives them a cheap young player for the end of the roster. The pick is lottery protected .

Clippers Take (23-22,6th)
They have been hit by the injury bug hard and despite all of this are still in the playoff race. They are desperate for 1st round picks thanks to the Paul George trade and don't have a 1st in 22,24 or 26. They take on Gordon's contract and he is still good enough to play this year. They now automatically have a expiring contract to add to any trade next year. The 1st they get back gives them more flexibility in trading 1st in the future. They also get Whiteside who may even up starting at C.

Other Notable Trades

Blazers Get SF Depth
They add Terrance Ross (78 ovr) who will improve the wing depth off the bench. He is under contract for 10 million next year so Orlando dumps his salary as Rodney Hood's (75 ovr) contract is expiring. Orlando also picks up a future 2nd rounder and young cheap player in C.J Ellerbee (72 ovr)

Clipper Make Another Trade
Devastated by injuries even more now then when they traded for Gordan as now PG-13 and Marcus Morris are out for 1-2 months. Jabari Parker is the only healthy PF on the roster and they are about to have 4 healthy C's. Zubac (78 ovr) was no longer needed after getting Whiteside so they bring in a much needed true PF in Larry Nance (77 ovr). The Cavs only had 1 healthy C on the roster with Jarreet Allen injured. Zubac gives them a backup C for next year assuming they pick up his option. This also saves them 3 million bucks. Nance is under contract for next year.

The big news here is that Ja makes his first all star team

Signature "Cigar Lineup" Revealed

Every year under Bubba Davis's direction each team has a signature lineup that is given a nickname. We won't get into the past too much but have included a picture of the previous lineup. This isn't the best 5 players on your roster Its a unique lineup copying the Golden State "death lineup". That is made to give opposing teams fits typically at the close of games so you will see people playing out of position.

Spoiler

We are revealing this years "cigar lineup" which comes from for the old saying "he is a human victory cigar" used when bench players would come into the game. Its only been a few weeks since the big trade not a ton of data just yet the early returns are positive. So far this lineup is being used mostly when Memphis has the lead late in the 4th quarter. Since you have two rookies in this lineup it will be even better in the years ahead.

This lineup does have some flexibility Brandon Clarke is the C if need be Jaren Jackson could take his place. You might want to play Jaren if your going against a elite traditional C or need more rim protection. If your coming off a timeout and need a key rebound then Jonas could get call. In general though Clarke is getting the nod as he is the most balanced of the 3.

This is a interesting lineup with the major differences being Ja moved to the 2 and Mullin to the 4. You only have 3 scorers in this lineup since your talking about playing with the lead or crunch time situations that's plenty as typically the ball will be in Ja's hands. You have enough shooting with Mullin and Clarke being over 40% for the year and the others capable of hitting the open ones.

The player that makes this lineup work and makes it interesting is the 19 year old 5'9 PG Gheorge Stefan. He gives you a secondary ball handler allowing Ja to play some off the ball when it can be easier for him to drive to the rim. He also allows for Thybulle to not automatically have to guard the teams best perimeter scorer. You can mix and match since Stefan has proven to be a very good defender (b+ rating). This allows Thybulle to play off ball some at the "free safety" position where he can make some plays. He has also been tremendous at the FT line this year shooting 92%. With two fast ball handlers it helps push the pace. if you having a slow non defense G its going to be a nightmare when they spread you out in iso.

Speaking of FT's in this lineup Thybulle will throw the ball in since he plays the 3 so when the other team is fouling a quality FT shooter will go the line. Their isn't a whole lot of difference with Mullin playing the 4 as his main goal is still to shoot.

A 5'9" point guard? How's he impact the defensive side of the ball?

Yea he is the player I traded up in the draft to get. He had a good overall, but is obviously a niche player. He is a blast to play with I've gotten attached to him. The CPU seems to do better with him on offense then me as Ja missed a game before the all star break and he he scored like 18. I'm not sure his steal stats, but his rating is pretty good.

He has been a quality defender his perimeter defense rating is B+. His speed ratings are all maxed out at like 99 so I like to user control him and play off his man as a secondary defender. Since he is so fast he can recover and still contest the shoot. I do want to play against a bigger PG before playoff time for a game and see how he holds up. The smaller Curry/Lillards of the world he can guard without a problem.

Memphis Update - All Star Break 2022

Its still a breakout season for Memphis as they go to the all star break 39-17 which is currently the 3rd seed. They have a big lead on the teams below them so its looking like the 3rd seed is the lowest they will drop. I don't think anyone expected this much of a leap in record.

When looking at the stats Grayson Allen has only played in 1 game so that's why he is averaging so many points. The same goes for Porter playing in just the 1 game. We haven't seem many drastic changes since our last update. We will be doing a mid season report card soon where we will go more in depth on the players.

I like that Cigar lineup! Plenty of playmaking, defense and shooting! Good to see Ja Morant at the 2. He reminds me of Penny Hardaway and Penny could play the 2 aswell with his athleticism. Maybe even unlock an extra gear for Morant!

Yea Its a fun well balanced lineup. I've been giving the rookie PG extra minutes when I jump in the games as I want to get use to him and he has a lot of untapped potential. If I see a matchup where I can exploit Ja being at the 2 that will come in handy come playoff time. If Stefan improves this offseason like I hope then Ja could get some more run at the 2. I can get by with Mullin at the 4 late in games. The biggest weakness in the cigar lineup is rebounding.

Read This if your doing a franchise
Make sure you have all kinds of saves for your franchise that are staggered and not all on the same day. I had a instance last night where it crashed on the same day 10 times in a row. I luckily had another save file from a previous day so I just skipped past that day and it appears to have worked. I also keep one about a month in the past as a last ditch effort. If I hadn't done that I may have lost everything. I now have like 7 save files. I am on ps5
