Re: NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

Major FA Addition

Memphis came into the offseason with the most cap space in the league. It was a little misleading with needing to pay Jaren Jackson and Jonas V and looking to avoid the luxury tax until next year.

Before we get to the major news lets clean up some of the others. It took more the sign Jaren Jackson then we expected after his overall improvement and A+ 3 point stroke. He signs a 5 year mega deal starting around 25 million per. Jonas comes back on a 3 year and 37 million $ deal that is front loaded for the 29 year old. After losing Winslow, Kyle Anderson is brought back as veteran depth on a 2 year and 11 million contract.

T.J Warren was one of the best FA that wasn't automatically going to return to his old team. He signs a 3 year and 60 million dollar contract to go to Memphis. The deal is also frontloaded so at age 32 so he will be making 18 million in the final year. This makes it a more moveable contract in the years ahead.

His stats don't quite match up with his increased overall the last 2 years in Indiana. He was still solid scoring 14 points in about 30 minutes per game. His 3 point shooting has been a little inconsistent and overall doesn't match his A+ grade. In the Memphis offense and the amount of open looks he will get the front office is confident he will be able to improve on that % this year.

He does have some offense skills outside of shooting with 84 driving layup and 92 close shot. He is also a consistent offense player with 99 in intangibles. He isn't a defender, but the 2nd unit is strong on defense with Stefan and Melton in the A range and Jonas playing the 5. Him playing alongside Jonas will also hide his rebounding.

He will take the role that Winslow had playing some 3 and 4 in the 2nd unit. His job is going to be to provide offense off the bench in the Lou Williams type mold. He will be surrounded by quality role players that scoring isn't the best thing they do. We think it will be a perfect match in the 25ish minutes a game he plays.

2023 Open Night Rotations

We aren't going to do a in depth positional preview this year as everyone expect T.J was in the rotation last year and we have already did a article about him. The offense system Perimeter Centric and head coach will also stay the same.

The biggest change from last year is Jaren Jackson has officially moved to the 5 and Jonas will come off the bench. This hurts rebounding as last year Jonas got 13 a game last year and will get about 10 less minutes. Jaren has improved a little in rebounding still its only grades out as C-.

Both Warren and Stefan will get mid 20's in minutes this means it will be a 9 man rotation instead of the 10 from last year. Both of these players will get enough time to make a run at 6th man of the year which JJJ won last year. Melton gets the nod to start as the 9th man and will get 12 per game. The team likes having two quality defenders in the 2nd unit. Bane is the player that is the odd man out on opening night. He grades out as A+ in 3 point and B on defense and still has yet to reach his full potential. You could see him and Melton split games playing.

The 3 training camps saw Stefan's playmaking go from B to B+. Mullin's defense go from B- to B. Then Thybulle's potential go from A- to A.

editors note - I bumped up the user injury slider a lot last year and still saw 0 injuries. So l will put it near max to start the year and hopes to see one to get it more realistic.

Is Stefan Ready For A Larger Role ?

It's no secret that Stefan is a fan favorite from the higher ups. They traded up to get him despite having a All Star PG. He only played about 14 minutes his rookie year when you look at his per 36 stats you will see that he played well for a 20 year old. He was even in closing games a lot of times in the famous "nascar lineup".

He has improved a lot since last year his 3 point shooting went from B- to B+. This is huge because until he was brought in before a private workout this was expected to be in the C's to start his career. He shoot a respectable 36% his rookie year. His playmaking skills have been a major focus and that's went from C+ to B+. He was already a good defender as a rookie that has went up even more from when it started at B+. He is the perfect help defender as he can play off his man and recover in time to challenge the shot.

You can't talk about him without mentioning his speed and size. Now that he has improved his playmaking and will be playing with better talent. Its going to be interesting to see how many assist he gets playing in the 2nd unit. With a spaced out floor he can easily run past defenders or kick it out to a shooter. He is going to get his shot blocked that's the drawback of playing someone 5'9. If he can perfect the mid range off the dribble shoot then he will be able to get that anytime he wants it.

He will see a big increase in minutes this year and will get 25 minutes a game. Is he ready for the bigger role ?

I like these new Memphis, starting J.Valanciunas from the bench seems to me a great idea, you will have a more competitive bench
On injuries I can tell you that I don't see them either, alternatively I simulate a mylegue and when injuries occur in my team then I transfer them to the official mylegue, it could be an alternative

Re: NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

Its tricky in 2K when changing positions as they will always have the guy rated higher at PF then C. In JJJ case last year it was like a 4 point difference. His rebounding last year was in the D's so it didn't seem like the right fit. I also liked him being able to play either the 4 or the 5 off the bench. I also got off to a hot start and didn't want to rock the boat. I don't want Jonas playing the 4 so I need to try and make that not happen. With my style of offense it was time to start Clark and JJJ who are the perfect fit for my offense.

Last year my user injury slider was in the 70's or 80's and i only got one or two minor ones. I've upped it to the 90's this time so that should help. I guess i could also lower the durability a little if I've not seen any in a month.
