Should Sabonis & Fox Both be All Stars?

It's about a week before the all-star teams are announced and you could argue Indiana has two deserving players of making the all-star team. The biggest reason why it may not happen is the record as they are 1 game below 500. We aren't going to go over all the other candidates as that would be a lot of numbers to look at.

Instead, we will focus on Sabonis who you would think would be a near lock. He not only Last year made the all-stars last year he also made a all-NBA team. His stats are even slightly better this year overall. Fox has the scoring to make it at 21 per game and his 7 assists is solid for a PG, but not super high. The backcourt spots are always harder to make then frontcourt so he may lose out to someone with slightly worse stats on a better team. If your Indiana, you have to be pleased with what you're getting from your best 2 players

Indiana scored 30 points in the 4th quarter shooting 50% and got outscored by 17.

Danny Dunn the 6th overall pick one ahead of Chuck Person. He broke his leg and will miss 6-8 weeks. He was averaging 10 points in 20 minutes on good shooting.

I can see Sabonis making it but Fox's stats compare to those players that get snubbed...

I got distracted this weekend so didn't look but thats what I would expect also. Hard to get two players on the all star that that arent a top seed unless they are both superstars

Trade Alert

76ers Thoughts - 24&26 10th seed
Philly had to settle on trading Ben this summer for a a bunch of assets over 1 star. That hasn't worked out for them so they give up a few of those pieces here. They sit 2 games below 500 and with Harris out for 3 weeks avoiding the playin appears to be a pipe dream.

This is a straight salary dump as Harris is having a bad year and is owed close to 40 million next year. He went from 17 ppg and 40 % from 3 to this year 14 and 31%. This move also gives them 17 million in cap space right now and they can go star hunting in the offseason.

Basically Phillys whole roster was worthy of getting minutes so they had to thin it up. Keldon Johnson is owed a new contract and didn't fit in after leaving San Antonio. Springer hasn't seen the court in 1.5 years and they still have two 2nds this upcoming draft. They get to hang on to both lottery pick rookies as well as the C Shepard (74 ovr)

Trailblazers Thoughts - 12&36 15th seed
They had close to 30 million in cap space this year so add to their war chest of assets and young players as they rebuild. While Harris is overpaid he is the highest rated guy on the roster and they had a big hole at PF as Bol Bol isn't the answer. Harris and Powell will give the young guys two solid veteran players. They are hoping Keldon Johnson plays like he did last year where he scored 19 a game and won most improved. After this year he shouldn't cost all that much to bring back.

Harris also becomes a expiring contract next year. With a young roster and a boatload of draft picks they weren't going to add a FA with that cap space. Even if they did, they wouldn't be as good as Harris. They needed a G to get minutes after Theo got hurt. Springer is 20 years old with A- potential. The spurs pick next year is unprotected so easily could end up in the low teens or better. This gives Portland six 1st round picks the next 2 drafts. The 2nd round pick they have could also be in the top 10 and it will be the only 2nd they have. They have a lot of bodies that are young with potential so just need a few of them to improve these next 2 years during the rebuild








Editors Note - Harris isn't able to play through his injury I've got to change it after the trade workaround. Also the trade player exceptions appear not to be working in 2k and very spotty

Yea they have been one of the most disappointing teams. If it was just up to me I would have just keep Ben on the team however that felt extremely unrealistic after the real-life news. Ben came back mid season last year and they missed the playoffs.

They are set up to make some big moves with cap space and Derrick Whites salary. They had the 6th and 14th pick in this past draft who after moving Harris will get more playing time. They also have their own 1st this year so they can move some of that for atleast 1 more star type guy.

Pacers vs Thunder

The first showdown of the year between these two teams. After a late run OKC took a 10-point lead. When the report came down at the end of the 1st Lillard had 21 points. So some defense adjustments were made. When halftime got here Indiana had come back and took a 2-point lead. After Lillard hit a few shots to start the 3rd Indiana went to the double team and that wasn't the right move. The 2nd half went to heck in a handbasket with OKC outscoring them by close to 20 in each quarter.

Lillard was out of his mind tonight with 52 points including 12 for 20 from 3. He even added 6 rebounds and 8 assist with only 2 turnovers. Nurkic had a pretty big game as well flirting with a triple double while scoring 21. SGA was the other person of note with 13 assist. This was a forgetful game for Indiana with no highlight performances outside of Drummond.
