Thanks a lot I'm wide open into this so won't be stopping anytime soon. While I'm at work I think I just came up with a trade that will work so I gotta get home to see if the math works.

Ja Breaks Franchise Assist Record

In last nights game ironically against the same Kings Ja broke the franchise assist record for a single game. His 20 assist breaks the previous record by 1 which was held by Jason Williams. Ja is currently averaging a little over 10 assist per game which ranks him in the top 5 in the league.

* This was a simmed game where I jumped into the game with 3 minutes to go.

Trade Alert

The trade deadline is still a few weeks away and its expected to be a very active one. We will now take a look at some trades that were made in previous weeks

Celtics Take (21-10, 2nd seed)
Boston has a good record but needed a upgrade at C and didn't need Kemba's scoring anymore. Myles Turner is still young and lines up with the ages of Brown and Tatum and is under contract for a while. He gives them the shot blocker and rim protector they haven't had in years. They are turning the reigns at PG over to Payton Prichard backed up by this years 1st round pick. Lamb gives them a solid bench player. They still have Triston Thompson's expiring if they need to make another move. The reason they gave up the 1st was Kemba likely regresses next year and is owed major $ and its lottery protected.

Pacers Take (14-19, 12th seed)
They still have time to move up the standings as only a few games separate them from the playoffs. Malcom Brogdan just got hurt and will miss 6-8 weeks so they need G's. They can replace Turners minutes with Bitadze whose per 36 stats are 22&12. They also have lottery pick Tisdale and Mcdermitt (48% from 3) at the PF spot and now Grant Williams. Walker gives them a #1 scorer that should still be a starting caliber player next year even with being overpaid. 1st round picks for the middle of the road small market teams are always handy even if its in the 20's.

Hawks Take (20-14, 5th seed)
They just got devastating news Trae Young who is #1 in MVP voting will miss 4-6 weeks. Huerter has only played in 9 games and will miss a few more weeks. Bogdan is also out another 4-6 weeks so by the time they come back they will be lucky to be the 7th seed. Gallo just wasn't needed anymore and this opens up more minutes for last years 6th pick. They get two expiring's and two future 2nds. Old friend Milsap also gets to retire in Atlanta and will play a little bit while everyone is hurt. Atlanta was unlikely to pick up the option on Gallo.

Nuggets Take (18-17, 4th seed)
Bol Bol is the starting PF and is having a breakout season so this moves upgrades the bench and depth. Since Denver is over the cap next year they likely will pick up his team option as a trade piece. While he has limitations on defense he can shoot and this makes them a better team and they don't give up much.

___________________________________________

Raptors Take (20-13, 4th seed)
They had a huge trade exception created when Lowry went to Miami so they had to use it this year. They were looking for a quality player without having to give up a asset so Wiggins was the clear choice. They have injuries to all 3 PG on the roster including former Memphis player Tyus Jones who had been starting. Since they have such a good record they didn't want to waste anymore time to use the trade exception. They will for now start FVV at the 1 and Wiggins at the 2. Except for this year he had scored over 17 a game for the previous 6 years. This is a safer move then signing a big name FA since his contract is up after next year.

Warriors Take (10-20, 14th seed)
They are a major disappointment this year so this is a pure salary dump. They are able to trade him without having to give up a single draft pick. It also creates a big trade exception that can be used next year. They will move Klay to the starting 3 and this opens up minutes for younger guys like Tim Vincent who was a lottery pick. They also have a SF they took in the 2nd round that has A- potential.

Re: NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

Blockbuster Trade Alert

Grizzles Take (27-13, 3rd seed)
We will go more in depth on this for now so we will keep this short. They get the defensive anchor they have been looking for and one of the best defense players in the league. He is a Zero on offense which Memphis should be able to get around with so much scoring on the roster. They trade Dillon Brooks a productive wing under a good contract and a 1st round pick. Memphis had two 1st and didn't have a need for both of them with so much cap space this summer. They still keep the Utah 1st and the 2nd rounder is next year. Memphis now has 18 million in cap space, but isn't expected to use it unless a injury happens before the deadline.

Bulls Take (9-30, 12th seed)
More then any team in the NBA they had to hit the reset button and make a trade after having the same basic roster for a few years. They only have 9 wins and with Levine and Dumars both hurt that's not going to be improving. Lauri signed a extension and that was mostly just with the eye on trading him. Unfortnelty he didn't improve on the court and has shoot 33% from the field the last two years. The contract is big for Harris for now though he is better then Lauri and the contract ends sooner assuming all player options are picked up. He is 29 so should be atleast be a productive player for the next 1.5 years when it becomes a expiring contract. Philly is currently the 8th seed so that 1st could end up being late teens/early 20's. Harris is shooting 40% from 3 and with him moving up the pecking order he could be in for a good year in Chicago after averaging 18 last year. They wanted to save Cousins for another trade, but needed his 9 million salary to make the deal.

76ers Take (21-18, 8th seed)
A lot going on here for Philly a little recap they got sweep as the 8th seed last year and this year are the 8th seed again. We had them ranked as championship expectations going into the year. The easy way to say it is they don't lose a single draft pick and trade Harris and Thybulle for Markkanen and Brooks. This saves them $ as they are no longer paying Harris the max and are now blessed with mid tier salaries for a future trade with plenty of draft picks. The Markkanen contract declines in value so they pay him longer then Harris, but with less annual $.

They are banking on being able to get Markkanen to shoot again as on paper he is the stretch 4 that fits great with Joel and Ben. He is 24 so 5 years younger then Harris. Thybulle as amazing as a defender as he is wasn't a great fit with Ben and Joel because you have 3 non shooters in the starting lineup. Thats why despite Curry starting they are one of the worst shooting teams in the league. Dillon Brooks should be a better fit as the starting 3 he will hold is own on defense and is shooting 38% from 3. He is just 26 and will only make 12 million next year and has been very consistent the last 3 years. The first they get this year will be a little lower then what they gave up. Its still a cheap young player and allows them to be able trade a 1st next year. They also have Shane Kerr the 3 & D specialist (b+ for both) they drafted in the 1st round that will get more minutes. Cousins wasn't need with Boban playing well as the backup and Zach Collins being around. So he could end up getting traded or just provided depth.

Re: NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

Is Thybulle The Missing Piece ?

Memphis has long wanted a defense minded SG to team up with Ja and was going to take Joe Dumars in the draft until getting lucky with ping pong balls. They had a lot of depth at SG this year and they all played fine just nobody stepped up and grabbed the position and demanded they get 30 minutes a game.

Thybulle is arguable the best defense player in the NBA he can easily guard 3 positions and is a playmaker on top of that. He was 1st team all defense last year and has saw his steals and blocks double this year with more playing time. In what scouts call "badges" he has 12 of them on defense. We didn't do the math, but that has to the toward the top of the league as badges are hard to come by these days.

Memphis currently ranks 1st in offense points a game yet 21st in defense. You can get away with that in the regular season come playoff time its harder to win with that much of a difference. They are currently 18th in steals so that should go way up now. When playoff time comes knowing you have someone that can automatically match up with the teams best perimeter scorer is huge.

The issue with him is offense and he is a non factor on that side of the ball. His 3 point % has gotten worse every year and is at 28% this year. We expect that all of his practice time and training will go into that. If he can get up to mid 30's and be able to hit the open shoots that's all you need. With so many offense weapons on this team that shouldn't be a issue to hide 1 guy. They are some lineups and combinations that you will want to likely avoid in general that shouldn't be a major issue.

When asked for comment Bubba Davis said

" First we want to thank Dillon Brooks he was a great player here for years. We had to see him go unfortnelty that's the business we are in. We do think he is going to a tremendous oppturnity in Philly and he will be able to play a big role and get a lot of open shoots while starting. We felt like we could afford giving up our 1st since we still have the Utah pick.

I had coveted Thybulle for years I just didn't think we would be able to land him as I expected Philly to have a better record then they do now. He is going to come in and start and his job is to defense and make plays on that end of the court. We aren't worried about his offense game right now in the future we will need him to hit the open shoots.

When I was hired I had a specific strategy in mind and Thybulle is the last major piece that I had in mind. We will of course take a fresh look at things when the season ends. For now though I have built this team exactly that way I wanted to"

New Post Trade Rotations

It can be risky making a trade when your overachieving like Memphis when you look at the rotations not a lot has changed really so its not a complete overhaul. In short Thbyulle is basically playing the De'Anthony Melton role just with more minutes. They aren't a lot of changes your 3 big men are still at 30 per night with Winslow at 14 playing the 4 some. Ja is still at 34 with Stefan getting the 14 minutes he sits out.

If your trading for Thybulle it only made sense to give him 25-30 minutes a night and that's what is happening here. Bane has saw his minutes change around the 16 minutes he is getting is decent amount to see what he can do. Konchar is the biggest winner of the this and will finally get regular consistent minutes. He gets the nod over Melton as they wanted another scorer and already had some defense/non scorers in the 2nd unit with Stefan and Winslow.

Grizzles vs Raptors - Thybulle's Debut

Thybulle hit a 3 four minutes into the 2nd quarter and Memphis took a 9 point lead. The half would come and the lead had grew to 15. Thybulle had more counting stats then expected with 7 points and 5 assist at half while guarding FVV. Memphis would go on to cruise to a victory.

It was a positive impression for the new SG despite shooting 2 of 8. While FVV scored 22 points it took him 23 shoots to do it. You also saw him get 8 assist which was from him just moving the ball around not forcing shoots. Ja was super efficient scoring 32 points and all 3 big guys played well.
