I'm going to go with an alignment based on what is going to (probably) be happening in the future. I am going to be using 4 TeamBuilder schools, only issue is figuring out which 4 MAC schools I'm going to replace.

I'm also working under the assumption that you have to have at least 4 teams in each conference, so I can't quite get the WAC (the death of that is) and Mountain West perfect either.

Split the country into 5 regions. 4 of the regions have 22 schools, with 12 in the top tier and 10 in the lower. The Southeastern region has 32 teams with 12 in the top and 10 in each of the lower two.

I put the three service academies into the independents. It makes sense and makes the numbers for everything else much easier to manage.

Yes! Another alignment. This time based on the American Civil War. The Union states are one region (minus California and Oregon) and the Confederate states are another, with the territories plus California and Oregon as another region.

I find it difficult to not make these constantly. Hopefully I can calm myself down and settle on one to use longer than three games.

I made sure not to separate any in-state teams.

Even though there are an uneven number of conferences, I made sure to avoid having a "junk" conference. Instead I just made one of the regions larger.
