Do we judge sports titles harder than FPS or RPG?

Let me say this, my non-sports title gaming is horribly limited. I tried Halo, wasn't my thing. I'm more of a fantasy RPG type guy when it comes to my non-sports gaming. I beat Grandia II on Dreamcast, and loved Lost Odyssey on 360.
That being said there are 2 titles in my new ps3 that are getting close to equal time. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and MLB: The Show 10. For the sake of this blog, I'm going to talk about graphics & movement.
One thing I've seen a lot of over the years here are comments on "collision detection." I remember ASB 2003 or 4 which had home runs banging off the facade, we thought it was awesome.
As I play Uncharted it looks like Nathan Drake is sliding against every object he interacts with as he either rolls, walks or sits...even in situations where your not at the edge of the area you can go. I've seen his feet go into and pop out of boulders has he jumps on them. In MLB the Show, things like the tags on baserunners, sliding into bases , and plays at the plate have a similar effect. I notice it in both titles equally, but it is what it is.
There are some spots where my AI companion in Uncharted is a total dunce. Just like when I turn on autofield in the Show, and a ball seems to be hit between two players "zones..." and nobody goes for it. WTF!!
If the Show or Madden ever played as dumb as people/things I've noticed in Uncharted, we'd all be raising holy hell. Now this is the only video game site I check out, so maybe other people are as hard on their genre of choice, but I think generally as sports gamers we have it ok, judging by the other fare out there

Simple answer: yes.
Sports gamers will never be satisfied. Expectations are beyond unrealistic. |

statum, why do you think that is though? I think probably has to do with the fact we see football/baseball/basketball/hockey every day, but not so much dragons and mages....
Joeyi05, I play with default on veteran, and turned up base stealing ability one click. |
