Re: Aaron Pryor Gone At 60
Probably the only guy Leonard ever ducked, which speaks volumes as to how good Pryor wasComment

Re: Aaron Pryor Gone At 60
Leonard's career peaked with his victory over Hearns in their first bout in September 1981 which was preceded by his two bouts with Duran. Then came Leonard's eye surgery and effective five year retirement (other then bouts with two nondescript fighters) while Pryor was doing Arguello 1 & 2. Aaron was rising just as a much bigger name (Duran) was jumping two weight classes to set up a mega fight(s) with Leonard. I'm not saying Sugar Ray relished a fight with Pryor (which he probably would have won) but the economic timing wasn't there.Comment

Re: Aaron Pryor Gone At 60
His two fights with Alexis Arguello were just incredible. I was at the first fight in Miami with my uncle and dad. It was outrageous. A memory I will never forget as a 12 year old kid. Just incredible.

RIP Hawk. He was sweet to watch.
I'm sure Panama Lewis didn't do anything to increase his longevity either. WHo knows what was going into his body during those prime years.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: Aaron Pryor Gone At 60
I met Pryor about 15 years ago when I was at a Reds Fest with my dad. I didn't know much about boxing at the time but I had heard of him, and my dad knew him (he grew up with his main training partner) but for 2 random people bothering him when he wasn't at a booth or anything he couldn't have been more gracious and talked to my dad for quite some time talking about his old sparring partner.
Wish we could have seen his full career if he didn't get hooked on drugs. RIP Hawk.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals
