Re: The Return To Prominence? 49ers Dynasty

Went 1-3 in preseason, but who cares, it's freakin preseason. The key is, no notable injuries. Except for Manny Lawson, who got hurt again. Only 5-6 weeks, but because I'm sick of him, he has a huge penalty, and I have better backups, he's been IR'd. Good riddance.

I picked up a few people on my roster. I first picked up FB Tony Richardson, but ended up cutting him for FB Ovie Mughelli. I cut Shaun Hill, signed J.P. Losman for less. Signed TE Joe Jon Finley, signed DE Derrick Burgess (Who is really broken down, 64% health) DL Shaun Smith, LB Stephen Nicholas, and S Brandon Meriweather.

I only kept one of the original camp invites, backup center Rose. Here's how the rookies turned out:

Spoiler

Week 1 isn't easy, as I face the Colts, who still have virtually the same team as in reality, which is not going to be a fun task. Of course, it's at Lucas Oil Stadium as well. Here's my schedule:

Week 1: @ Indy
Week 2: Texans
Week 3: Rams
Week 4: Titans
Week 5: Bears
Week 6: @ Giants
Week 7: Bye Week
Week 8: @ Packers
Week 9: @ Jaguars
Week 10: @ Seahawks
Week 11: Lions
Week 12: @ Cardinals
Week 13: @ Rams
Week 14: @ Vikings
Week 15: Cardinals
Week 16: Seahawks
Week 17: Saints

It's going to be another interesting season. I really like what my team has to offer, let's win another Super Bowl!

Re: The Return To Prominence? 49ers Dynasty

My approval is 83 heading to the first game, here are the "Goals" they gave me for the season:

"Win 3 of first 4 games" Simple enough
"Beat the Cardinals Week 12" Ok then
"Win Offensive Rookie of the Year with Fordham" Um, he's a lineman, they don't give OL any credit. That goal is already failed
"Bring back Martz" Alrighty
"Bring back Singletary" Ok
"Win Coach of the Year" I'll try
"Finish Top 10 in Offense" Ok....
"Finish Top 10 in Defense" Hmmmm...
"Have an approval of 90+" Better win then...

Well, I got to the 11:28 mark of the 2nd quarter before the game just froze on me. Booooooo.

(It was tied 7-7)

Re: The Return To Prominence? 49ers Dynasty

The game lived up to the billing for sure. If you would've told me I would've not scored an offensive TD until :44 seconds in the game, my response would've been, "Crap, I got killed!" Not the case.

Defense was very strong all game. Destroyed the run, they had negative on the day. Doesn't hurt that I killed Addai (Mild Head Trauma, IR'ed) and then hurt Aveion Cason. Travis Minor show, woo! Early on, I kept managing to stop them on 4th and 1. And Vinatieri shorted a 40 yarder. SHORTED! Not terribly realistic.

Serna had a 55 yarder in the 1st, which as you'd expect, he missed. Had no offense, run game was ok, but lots of dropped passes, and lots of poor reads by Smith. Had one drive going well, ended in Smith fumbling.

But I scored the first points in the 2nd, as Nate Clements took an interception to the house. They got the ball back around the two minute warning, and of course, the no huddle is impossible to stop without audibles. Colts scored, tie game. I got the ball back with my timeouts, but stalled around midfield. 4th and 5, I let the time tick to about 15 seconds and got the first down. Ended up only able to try a 57 yard field goal, which he of course missed. (Not short, but accuracy)

To the third quarter, tied game. Get a decent drive to start the half, 38 yard field goal, missed. (GAHHH!!!!!!) Had a drive finally working in the red zone, and Cribbs decides to fumble too. Gah. We traded punts for a bit, then they scored with around 5 minutes left. So I move slowly down the field, letting the clock tick. I get into the red zone, then get 1st and goal at about the 5, under 2 minutes left.

First 3 plays, I try runs, they fail. Then, I get a freakin defining moment (I HATE THESE SO MUCH) as if I'd kick a field goal down 7. Really? The worst part, I wanted to run the clock down, I would've ran it to about 20 seconds. But because of defining moment, there was still about 45 left when I hiked the play.

PLUS, I had ran goal-line the play before, and defining moment didn't let me change personnel. So it was a quick slant play with a freakin tackle at tight end. (He was in because Davis got hurt) but Smith finds Mughelli in the end zone for the TD.

But, there is 40+ seconds left and the Colts have timeouts. Great. They move down the field, and get aided by a facemask. So they still have 2 timeouts at about the 33, they run it, I stuff them, and they let the clock tick down. Vinatieri, who shorted a 40 earlier shorted the 51, and to overtime we go.

I got the lucky break, I won the coin toss, therefore essentially winning the game. I moved down the field, had a few big plays, and then got to the 18. I ran the ball to get a few extra yards, and Frank Gore in a goal line play runs it up the middle for a 15 yard TD to beat the Colts IN Indy 20-14.

Whew.

Quite the way to start the year. 93 approval now. Smith was ok, 19-34, 241. Drops didn't help. Ran decently, Gore was 86 on 21 runs. Held them to negative rushing, but Manning was 25-30 for 291. The pick 6 by Clements was freakin huge.

Got dealt with injuries though. Frank Okam got his daily injury, 2 months. (Bit of humor, the game said he was out from 2-2 months...two to two? That's confusing) Vernon Davis is out for 5-6 weeks, and Jordan Gross is out a month. Ugh.

I signed a tight end, rookie British Stratton, and cut Losman. Turns out, Stratton has a 71-74 arm, woo new tight end is my 3rd QB!!!

Houston is up next, hope it goes well.

Bad thing is, he's the best out there. His Accuracy is 85, the best free agent is 86, and has half the leg.
