Re: The Return To Prominence? 49ers Dynasty

I cut one more person, Parys Haralson, and you'll see why.

With 32 million, I have a lot of spending power, so I went ahead and got a few big free agents.

When you have a 3-4 defense, the key to pressure is great linebackers. I have Suggs and Willis already, but Manny Lawson sucks balls and is always injured, and while Bockwoldt played well...no.

So I signed my first guy to play LOLB. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Bart Scott. He's an 89 as an OLB, and he can play inside. 3 year deal, 4.6 M against the Cap this season, 2.5 M bonus. Him and Suggs rushing is just beastly. Manny Lawson is relegated to backup, and Landon Johnson (who may later get cut) is the depth guy.

But I wasn't done. I first went after MLB Bradie James, but couldn't come to a deal. So I ended up with veteran MLB Larry Foote to play the middle with Willis. 82 overall, 4 years, 3.0 million cap hit this year, only 2 million bonus. I love signing these guys for low bonuses, since they are both late 20's, if they fall apart with age, I can cut for little penalty.

My linebacker group, Bart Scott, Patrick Willis, Larry Foote, and Terrell Suggs. That, my friends, is dominance. Along with a (hopefully) healthy Odom, Calais Campbell, and Dre Moore, and you have a fantastic front 7.

I added one more defender, CB Justin Miller (sadly, he really was the best guy out there) an 82 overall young guy with decent potential, 4 years, 3.2 M, 2 million bonus. Right now he's my #2, but since CB is a draft focus, he may end up the nickel guy.

As for offense, I did nothing at the "skill" positions, but did work on my line. After losing Pears, I need a RT, and I found my guy in beastly veteran Mark Tauscher. 2 year deal, 92 overall, 6.2 million this year, 2 million bonus. BEAST! My line consists of him, and Synder as my starting tackles (Blanton/Singleton are solid backups) and Gross/Staley at RG and C.

Still have a hole at LG, and I signed the unimpressive Rick DeMulling (79 ovr, 1 year, 1.8 mil, no bonus) who is my starter for now. But if the Draft goes right, he'll be a backup, if not cuttable.

Tried shopping some people, no one had interest in anyone except for Furrey, 9 teams wanted him. But no one has been willing to give me a pick higher than a 6th, so I've said no so far. I wish someone would take Shaun Hill, I'd trade him for a 6th.

I don't think I'll add any more free agents at this point. I have around 15 million in cap room, so I can spend more. But just don't see where I'd go. I probably will get a FB in free agency and not in the draft, since draftable fullbacks aren't blockers.

Here are what I have for needs heading to the draft
1: Get a stud cornerback
2: Get a starting LG
3: Get defensive end depth
4: Backup tight end
5: Get a 3rd running back
6: Cornerback depth
7: Find a promising backup QB
8: General defensive line depth
9: Another wide receiver

Still have more scouting to do. Before the draft, I'll let you know who I am eyeing. I have my 1-4th round picks, all the last in the round, then 3 5th rounders and 2 6th rounders. I'm considering a trade up for a stud corner. Still need to scout more.

Re: The Return To Prominence? 49ers Dynasty

Having 3 5th rounders is convenient, because it gives you flexability with trades. The Panthers offered Richard Marshall, a solid young CB, and I ended up trading for him by only giving up one of the 5th's (160th, I believe my lowest) He's an 83 for a uber-low salary. Potential of 84. Even if I don't re-sign him (Contract's up) He's a great guy to have. Plus, I don't have to trade the house to move up to get the ultra-stud at CB. I'm more inclined to look at other corners, and guard.

I'll give the scouting low-down tomorrow likely.

Re: The Return To Prominence? 49ers Dynasty

My draft picks(Pre Draft):
1st Round (32nd)
2nd (64th)
3rd (96th)
4th (128th)
5th (138th)
5th (149th)
6th (189th)
6th (192nd)
7th (202nd)

As for scouting, since head coach has repeated draft classes, here goes the "Spolier" button. If you don't want to know anything about the potential's of guys, don't press the button.

Re: The Return To Prominence? 49ers Dynasty

I had a big detailed thing, but then the site decided to glitch up, so I lost it all. Ugh.
Spoiler

Could've been better, but I have two 3rd's, two 4th's, and two 5th's for next year.
