HALFTIME
JETS AIR ATTACK COMES ALIVE, JETS LEAD 28-0

On the first play from scrimmage, a new, tougher Jets defense came onto the field. On the first play of the Dolphins offensive drive, the defense showed their new identity. Dolphins starting quarterback John Beck was knocked out for the game by rookie Keith Rivers. On the second play of the game, backup QB Quinn Gray came into to try and lead the Dolphins to a victory, but was picked off by linebacker Bryan Thomas.

The second play of the Jets first offensive drive held one of many Keller-to-Manningham touchdown passes. The Dolphins showed promise in their next drive, but the rain and wind made it difficult to make a field goal, and the ball went wide left. Clemens then threw another touchdown pass to Mario Manningham. The Dolphins reached the red zone, but in a nice goal line stop the Jets continued to show their nastier selves. Dolphins kicker Jay Feely missed yet another field goal, despite how close the kick was.

The Jets offensive air attack continued to shine, as Clemens and Manningham hooked up on two more touchdown passes before the end of the half, bringing Clemens to 4 touchdown passes thrown, and Manningham to 4 touchdown passes caught.

JETS WIN BIG TIME IN COACH'S DEBUT
Jets destroy rival Miami Dolphins 48-14

The shutout would end, however, in the third quarter. Kellen Clemens perfect QB rating came to an end as Will Allen picked of a pass intended for Mario Manningham and took it all the way for a touchdown.

That would in no way mean an end to New York scoring though, Jerricho Cotchery returned the following kickoff for a touchdown. After the Dolphins got the ball back, QB Quinn Gray led them down the field along with Ronnie Brown and scored the second touchdown of the game for Miami. Kellen Clemens then threw his 5th touchdown of the day on a 10 yard pass to Jerricho Cotchery.

Mike Nugent hit 2 out of 3 field goals for the last scores of the game, so newcomer head coach John Daniels came out of the rain in Miami with his first win ever.

Jets trade for TE Pope

FLORHAM PARK, NEW JERSEY -- Sunday night, the New York Jets traded for Arizona Cardinals TE Leonard Pope.

Pope was drafted by the Cardinals in the 3rd round of the 2006 NFL Draft and quickly became a red zone target with 5 receiving touchdowns.

However, the following season Pope was dropped out of Arizona's plans and was passed to a lot less.

Pope's key characteristic, which draws in many teams, is his 6'8'', 265 lb structure, which makes him an easy red zone target.

It is unclear how is arrival affects Dustin Keller's production, though Pope is assumed to only go in on red zone passes.

The Jets got Pope for a relatively low price for a productive TE, giving up a 7th round pick in this years draft.

SOURCES: PENNINGTON ON ROSTER BUBBLE, TRADE BLOCK

FLORHAM PARK, NEW JERSEY -- Jets quarterback Chad Pennington, starter before the injury that knocked him out for a full season and derailed his career, is rumored to be on the roster bubble in New York.

The Jets saw QB Kellen Clemens perform for the first time as a starter last week, and saw his enormous potential.

Clemens passed for 5 touchdowns to just 1 interception, with over 400 yards throwing.

Pennington is on the trading block as we speak, that was known for weeks, but if the Jets are unable to find a trading partner then Pennington will be released.

He carries a $9.9M contract, with a $9M penalty for releasing him. Even though it would save them just $900K, the Jets are willing to release the former star quarterback.

PATS GET OUT EARLY, LEAD 35-14 AT HALF

The game did not start out well for the Jets. A special teams disaster occurred during the kickoff, as DeSean Jackson took a kick return 97 yards to the house to enforce the fact that the Patriots were the top dogs in the division and were not willing to give that crown up.

The Jets did not give up though, as Kellen Clemens led them down the field on their first drive and threw a TD pass to TE Dustin Keller. Keller looks to be trying to prove himself after this week when the Jets traded for TE Leonard Pope.

Unfortunately, the Jets had another special teams disaster on the ensuing kickoff. Wes Welker ran back a kickoff 91 yards for another Patriot touchdown.

A failed Jets drive later, Tom Brady hooked up with Randy Moss for a touchdown. The Jets offense stalled yet again, and the Patriots got another touchdowns, this time a Brady to DeSean Jackson connection.

Following yet another Jets failed drive, Brady to Welker gave Wes Welker two touchdowns on the day so far.

A bright spot occurred just before the half, as Mario Manningham jumped to one hand grab an overthrown ball, and he proceeded to hurdle over a Patriots CB while the CB was diving at him to take it all the way for a 74 yard touchdown.

Dustin Keller continued his climb to stay atop the depth chart, with a quick touchdown pass from Clemens. A Tom Brady to DeSean Jackson TD quickly followed that, but Mario Manningham and the Jets had no desire to give up soon, Manningham grabbed another overthrown ball and took it in for a TD.

The Jets stalled the Patriots unstoppable offense the next drive, but the Pats still got a FG. With a huge decision to make on 4th and 8 in the red zone down 17, the Jets chose FG.

A last hope onside kick was recovered by Pats, which would put away the game. Brady to Moss once again for a touchdown, a fumble recovered by the Pats, and a Laurence Maroney touchdown in about 1 minute made the defeat seem much worse than it was in reality.
