Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith(a Bears Dynasty)

Week 9: Bears @ Saints

I was looking to do a little better after my last game, and boy did I ever. The Bears manhandled the Saints 68-21. Woodson threw for 4 touchdowns, and Ozzie rushed for 4. River and Campbell combined had 7 sacks, and Jones had 129 return yards. I did give up a couple of big plays, though.

Scoring Summary:

1st Quarter:

Chi-A. Woodson pass to E. Bennett for 40 yd TD, 13:06, XP good.
Chi-A. Woodson pass to E. Bennett for 18 yd TD, 05:07, XP good.

2nd Quarter:

Chi-Touchdown, 1 yd rush by O. Jones, 13:17, XP good.
Chi-27 yd FG good-R. Gould, 03:32.
Chi-27 yd FG good-R. Gould, 00:54
Chi-29 yd FG good-R. Gould, 00:05.

3rd Quarter:

Chi-Andre Woodson pass to D. Carey for 34 yd TD, 12:44, XP good.
NO-C. Pope pass to M. Colston for 56 yd TD, 11:48, XP good.
Chi-Touchdown, 11 yd rush by O. Jones, 04:54, XP good.

4th Quarter:

NO-C. Pope pass to M. Ellis for 84 yd TD, 13:50, XP good.
Chi-Touchdown, 45 yd rush by O. Jones, 04:28, XP good.
NO-C. Pope pass to M. Ellis for 76 yd TD, 03:52, XP good.
Chi-A. Woodson pass to M. Collins for 39 yd TD, 03:41, XP good.
Chi- Touchdown, 7 yd rush by O. Jones, 00:23, XP good.

Passing:

Woodson-23-36-368

Rushing:

Dunlap-16-104
Jones-20-131-4

Receiving:

Bennett-6-108-2
Doucet-5-43
Allan-3-40
Carey-2-63-1
Jackson-2-69
Collins-1-39-1

Blocking:

Mangold, Staley 3, Cody, Quinn, 1.

Defensive:

Rivers-8 tackles, 4 TFL, 4 sacks
Campbell-7 tackles, 4 TFL, 3 sacks
Phillips-6 tackles, TFL, INT
Simpkins-2 tackles, TFL, sack.
Urlacher- 2 tackles, INT
Kennard-tackle, TFL, sack.
Steltz-tackle, TFL.

Kicking:

Gould-4-4, long 46.

Notes: Both Doki and Harris should be recovered in about a months time. I bought Speed Training for my Head Coach and LBC. I'm going to work toward Innovator. Woodson is now 1st in MVP voting, and Rivers has a chance at DPOY. Martin is a very good DC, but I have a potential replacement if he leaves. My LBC Katcavage has lots of skills that cap at 5, plus the Ambition skill. I'd like some time to develop Kat as a LBC first, but he'll be ready if needed though. I think I'll let Harris go after this year, the latest injury has dropped his potential below 90, and his durability isn't too high anymore.

Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith(a Bears Dynasty)

Week 10: Bears at Bengals

I was looking to see what my Bears could could do against a top quarterback like Palmer. The Bengals did keep the game close in the first half, and I only had a 16-14 lead at halftime. A kickoff return TD by Jones and a interception TD by Bird put the game away in the second half, however, and we won the game 40-14.

Scoring Summary:

1st Quarter:

Chi-29 yd FG good-R. Gould.

2nd Quarter:

Chi-42 yd FG good-R. Gould, 13:05.
Cin- C. Palmer pass to C. Johnson for 47 yd TD, 09:26, XP good.
Chi-A. Woodson pass to D. Carey for 9 yd TD, 05:02, XP good.
Cin-Touchdown, 70 yd rush by R. Johnson, 04:55, XP good.
Chi-47 yd FG good-R. Gould, 00:52.

3rd Quarter:

Chi-64 yd kick by S. Graham, O. Jones returns 95 yds for a TD, 15:00, XP good.
Chi-Interception-C. Palmer pass intercepted by A. Bird for a 63 yd touchdown.

4th Quarter:

Chi-21 yd FG good, R. Gould, 09:53.
Chi-Touchdown, 7 yd rush by A. Woodson, 04:00, XP good.

Passing:

Woodson-22-32-310-1-1

Rushing:

Jones-18-81, 2 fumbles
Dunlap-13-17, fumble

Receiving:

Carey:7-87-1
Bennett-5-84
Jackson-3-34
Allan-3-58
Collins-1-25

Blocking:

Mangold 3 pancakes, Burke 1.

Defensive:

Urlacher-12 tackles, 2 TFL
Rivers-9 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks.
Steltz-5 tackles
Campbell-5 tackles, FF
Bird-4 tackles, INT TD
Howry-3 tackles, 2 TFL, sack, FR.
Gabriel-2 tackles, INT
Philllips-2 tackles, TFL

Kicking:

Gould-4-4, long 48

Return Yardage: Jones 94 KR(touchdown), Jones 60 PR.

Team Notes: Fumbles are beginning to be a problem. Both my RBs have a tendency to fumble, especially on special teams. I bought Kick Power Training for my STC(now at 99), Speed Training for my QBC, Strength Training for my RBC, Strength training for my WRC. FS Thomas Opoe(not my starting FS) has a torn ACL and PCL, will be out 3 months, so I put him on IR. I signed FS Rondell Phillips to a 1 yr 290 K deal.

Notes from Coach Smith-"We are looking good at 10-0, but the Vikings are still in it. They have a record of 8-3, and are keeping this division competitive. We have a game coming next against the Packers, and I want a season sweep against them. One thing I want to focus on in the future is holding onto the ball. I've seen way too many fumbles lately, and I want my Rbs to work on that in the future."

Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith(a Bears Dynasty)

Not sure about it, but my friend says that the improved ball carrying special skill that cost 15,000 helps that problem out... Also if the start to get fatigued then they have a greater chance to fumble it... Great win btw and good luck against the Packers, they can be a real headache sometimes...

Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith(a Bears Dynasty)

Game 11: Bears at Packers

My defense allowed more points than they usually do, but I still won the game. Would you believe I'm not even the best team in the NFL this season? The Cowboys are currently 12-0, and may gather a lot of the individual awards this season. The final score was 48-27, and I'll see if I can do better on defense next time vs the Lions. BTW- I'll try that SS, Edward.

Scoring Summary:

1st Quarter:

Chi-A. Woodson pass to E. bennett for 15 yd TD, 08:40, XP good.
GB-D. Culpepper pass to M. Bennett for 3 yd TD, 03:35, XP good.

2nd Quarter:

Chi-A. Woodson pass to D. Carey for 10 yd TD, 14:15, XP good.
Chi-A. Woodson pass to E. Bennett for 20 yd TD, 04:15, XP good.
GB- 42 yd FG good-M. Crosby, 01:51.
Chi-Interception, Brian Brohm pass intercepted by Freddie Lewis for a 29 yd TD, 08:58, XP good.
GB-49 yd FG good, M. Crosby, 00:10.

3rd Quarter:

Chi-A. Woodson pass to E. Allan for 14 yd TD, 07:50, Xp good.
Chi-49 yd FG good-R. Gould, 01:53.

4th Quarter:

Chi-Touchdown, 19 yd rush by O. Jones, 08:55, XP good.
GB-B. Brohm pass to R. Martin for 20 yd TD, 03:13, XP good.
Chi-30 yd FG good-R. Gould, 02:00.
GB- B. Brohm pass to D. Driver for 11 yd TD, 00:49, XP good.

Passing Stats:

Woodson-23-33-301-4-0

Rushing:

Dunlap-7-25
Jones-19-123-1

Receiving:

Jackson-6-76
Bennett-5-72-2
Allan-4-54-1
Doucet-4-61
Carey-2-20-1
Olsen-1-21

Blocking:

Burke- 2 pancakes, Cody, Kelly, Mangold, Staley, Olsen 1.

Defensive:

Rivers-15 tackles, 4 TFL, sack, FF.
Vasher-9 tackles.
Urlacher-8 tackles, 2 TFL, sack.
Campbell-7 tackles, 2 TFL, sack.
Steltz-6 tackles, TFL, sack.
Gabriel- 4 tackles
Lewis-2 tackles, 29 yd INT return.

Notes: Tommy Harris' recovery time is down to 1 week, Doki 2. Doki Somanu's potential is back up to 91 after being down to 90 earlier. I got Performance 3 for my DC, Strength Training for my HC, and Game Film Analysis for my LBC.

Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith(a Bears Dynasty)

Game 12: Bears at Lions

If anyone ever needs a good running play, there's a very effective play I've been using called OT that I downloaded. It's an inside run that looks a little like a sweep to the right. You put 5 O-linemen, 2 TEs, and the FB all in to block with 2 WRs as decoys. It's especially effective with a speed back like Jones if you run it late in the game when the defense is tired. Most of the time I get a long rushing TD, I run this play. Now on with the game!

I worked on improving my defensive play knowledge this game, so I wasn't as effective with it as I might have been. Woodson threw 4 interceptions, but I had 2 kick returns for Tds and 200 yds on the ground. I ended winning the game rather convincingly 66-28.

Score Summary:

1st Quarter:

Det-Interception, A. Woodson pass intercepted by A. lewis for a Touchdown, 10:41, XP good.
Chi-A. Woodson pass to E. Doucet for 22 yd TD, 08:26, XP good.

2nd Quarter:

Chi-A. Woodson pass to D. Carey for 9 yd TD, 10:28, XP good.
Det-J. Kitna pass to C. Johnson for 11 yd TD, 02:00, XP good.
Det-J.Kitna pass to R. Williamsfor 37 yd TD, 00:30, XP good.
Chi-68 yd kick by S. Suisham, O. Jones returns 98 yds for a TD, 00:22, XP good.

3rd Quarter:

Chi-62 yd kick by S. Suisham, D. Jackson returns 93 yds for a TD, 15:00, XP good.
Chi-39 yd FG good, R. Gould, 13:13.
Chi-Touchdown, 1 yd rush by O. Jones, 07:18, XP good.
Chi-A. Woodson pass to M. Collins for 12 yd TD, 02:13, XP good.

4th Quarter:

Chi-Touchdown, 36 yd rush by O. Jones, 10:20, XP good.
Chi-J. Kitna pass to R. Williams for 28 yd TD, XP good.
Chi-Touchdown, 21 yd rush by O. Jones, 04:41, XP good.
Chi-Touchdown, 14 yd rush by S. Dunlap, 01:38, XP good.

Passing:

Woodson-20-32-249-3-4. I got the Bench QB Defining Moment after the 3rd INT, but I declined.

Rushing:

Jones;1-120-3
Dunlap-13-100

Receiving:

Collins-5-45-1
Doucet-5-90-1
Bennett-4-49
Allan-2-26
Carey-1-9-1

Blocking:

Cody 2, Burke, Kelly 1.

Defensive:

Gabriel-11 tackles, TFL
Rivers-10 tackles, 4 TFL, INT, FF.
Urlacher-9 tackles, 3 TFL, 3 sacks, FR
Phillips-6 tackles, 2 TFL
Steltz-6 tackles, 2 TFL, sack.

Notes:

Tommy Harris recovered from his injury and will start in the NYG game. His recovery gave the trainer over 5000 points, so I bought Cardio Training Program. Ozzie Jones won OP of the Week, Urlacher DP of the Week. Other skills I bought were Int Dev WR 3 for my OC, Pass Block Disc for my OLC, Coverage Analysis for my DBC, and Improved Block Shedding. I've now got IBS for both my DC and DLC, so I should see my sack totals improve. Doki should be ready soon after the Giant game. I got Harris back just in time, Sam Sosa pulled a hamstring and will be out 4 weeks.

Notes from Coach Smith-" We've done better this season than I ever expected we would. We win this next game, we'll clinch our division. I'm really hoping we can get Home-Field thru the playoffs."

Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith(a Bears Dynasty)

Game 13: Bears @ Giants

I really had trouble getting after Eli in this game; his release is just too quick. One of these days, I'd like to draft a player with a quicker release than Andre. The combination of Woodson and Jones proved too much for the Giants, as I beat them 52-24. I think my coaching staff is making a big difference; I never put scores like this up when I've played the games the first season.

Score Summary:

1st Quarter:

Chi-A. Woodson pass to D. Carey for 9 yd TD, 09:28, XP good.
Chi-Touchdown, 23 yd rush by S. Dunlap, 09:18, XP good.

2nd Quarter:

Chi-A. Woodson pass to E. Bennett for 18 yd TD, 13:01, XP good.
NY-E. Manning pass to S. Smith for 8 yd TD, 09:23, XP good.
Chi-Touchdown, 5 yd rush by S. Dunlap, 01:41, XP good.
NY-53 yd FG good, L. Tynes, 00:51.
Chi-60 yd kick by L. Tynes, D. Jackson returns for 90 yd TD, 00:47, XP good.

3rd Quarter:

Chi-A. Woodson pass to G. Olsen for 13 yd TD, 10:13, XP good.
Chi-28 yd FG good, R. Gould, 00:04.

4th Quarter:

Chi- Touchdown, 1 yd rush by O. Jones, 07:32, XP good.
NY-E. Manning pass to A. Toomer for 37 yd TD, 02:51, XP god.
NY-E. Manning pass to S. Smith for 74 yd TD, 01:47, XP good.

Passing:

Woodson-18-25-221-3-0

Rushing:

Jones-24-174-1
Dunlap-9-53-2

Receiving:

Olsen-5-66-1
Carey-4-52-1
Doucet-3-30
Jackson-3-51
Bennett-2-24-1

Blocking:

Burke, Cody, Staley, Quinn 1.

Defensive:

Rivers-10 tackles, 3 TFL, sack.
Urlacher-10 tackles, TFL
Steltz-6 tackles, INT
Phillips-4 tackles, 2 TFL
Campbell-4 tackles, FF, FR
Lewis-3 tackles, INT
Ryan-2 tackles, 2 TFL
Bird-1 tackle, TFL

Returns: Jackson 2-109(1 TD)

Notes:

I bought Disciplined Routine for my HC and RB Discipline for my RBC after the game(my RBC is now 99). Doki Somanu has recovered, he'll be my starter in the next game. Dallas finally lost, so I'm now the only unbeaten team left. I'll let Harris enter free agency, his durability and potential has declined to the point where it is better to let another team pay him the money. I'll look to upgrade DT in the next draft. I noticed Sam Sosa's injury dropped him to a 89 potential, I hope it's not permanent. I've noticed young players regain potential lost to injury, not so much with veterans.
