Re: NFL Head Coach 09 Dynasty

Week 11

Oakland Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs

A battle of new head coaches, Coach Joslin vs. Coach Gibbs. The Raiders have stumbled to a 3-6 record, while the Chiefs are the cream of the NFL at 8-1.

The Raiders and Chiefs traded TD's by thier stud RB's in the first quarter and it looked like this one would be battle, but then the Raiders started making mistakes.

Oakland HB Darren McFadden definitely made his arguement for being the better back with TD runs of 52yds, and 60yds, but in the end it wasn't near enough.

The star of this game was for once, not HB Larry Johnson. It was second year WR Kevin Robinson. For whatever reason, Coach Gibbs and the Raiders refused to cover Robinson, and Coach Joslin made them pay.

Coach Joslin had this to say "It didn't seem to matter what play we called or where we subbed Kevin. He was always open, wide open. It was crazy. You think a guy scores a TD on you, you start paying attention, but no. Same guy scores 2 TDs, now for sure you're going to give him some extra attention, but no. In the end, Kevin had the best game of his life and gave us the W."

For those of you worried about HB Larry Johnson, don't worry, he still put up 185yds and a TD on 38 carries...which is pretty good, it just isn't the same as Kevin Robinson's 15 catches for 271yds and 4TDs. (Neither is a record though, WR Terrell Owens holds the record for receptions in a game with 20, and WR Willie "Flipper" Anderson racked up an amazing 336yd receiving in 1989.)

Chiefs Win!

Re: NFL Head Coach 09 Dynasty

Week 12

Indianapolis Colts @ Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs face arguably thier toughest opponent this week, when QB Peyton Manning and the Colts come to town.

Comparing QB Peyton Manning to QB Blake Strickland is ridiculous, and no one has any question, that if the Chiefs are going to win this one it will be on the shoulders of HB Larry Johnson and the Cheifs suspect defense.

Chiefs HB Larry Johnson shows why he should be the league MVP, putting up two rushing TD's (21yds and 55yds) in the 1st quarter. QB Blake Strickland finds 6'7'' rookie WR Isiah Darcy on the outside, when Darcy jumps for it, there is no question he's the one who's going to get it. Darcy breaks a tackle and takes the pass 26yds for a TD.

The Chiefs defense hasn't allowed Peyton Manning to get anything going, and the Colts head to the locker room down by 21pts.

QB Blake Strickland finds WR Dwayne Bowe on a hitch route, Bowe makes a move and then its off to the races, 53yds later he's celebrating in the endzone. The Chiefs are shutting out the Colts!

Colts HB Joseph Addai ends the Kansas City faithfuls hopes of a shut out, when he breaks through a mob of blitzers to the open field and goes 58yds for a TD.

Too little too late. Chiefs Win!

Chiefs News

After the big win vs. the Colts, Coach Joslin and Owner Thomas Koop reportedly got into a heated arguement.

No details about the nature of the arguement, but clearly Coach Joslin's popularity with the owner has suffered.

Re: NFL Head Coach 09 Dynasty

Week 13

Philadelphia Eagles vs Kansas City Chiefs

Trivia question: Who was the last QB from Cornell to play in the NFL? Answer: Gary Wood, drafted by the Giants in 1964.

Why haven't more QB's from Cornell gotten a shot in the NFL? Well the Chiefs were about to experience why in thier game vs. the Eagles.

With QB Kevin Kolb at the helm, the Eagles came ready to play. The Chiefs started out okay, with HB Larry Johnson scoring on an 8yd run. Then, things began to fall apart. The Eagles put up 17 unanswered points in the 2nd to take a 10 pt lead into the locker room.

QB Strickland was making mistake after mistake, throwing 2 interceptions, fumbling the ball and taking costly sacks. He was a deer in the headlights.

The Chiefs turned to HB Larry Johnson, who added another TD in the 3rd quarter, but the Eagles have been stacking the line looking for run, all day, and Johnson is struggling. HB Johnson doesn't even have 100yds rushing yet...a feat he normally accomplishes in the first half.

The Chiefs defense steps up in the redzone and holds the Eagles to a FG with just over 2 minutes remaining. Eagles 20 Chiefs 14. The Chiefs are going to have to drive the field and get a TD to win this one...and QB Blake Strickland isn't going to be any help.

Run after run, Johnson pounds the ball. Up the middle, pitch left, sweep right, subbed on a QB sneak. You name it, Coach Joslin is pulling out all the stops and it's working. Coach Joslin calls his final timeout. The Chiefs are at the 2 yard line, 4th and 1, with 4 seconds remaining. HB Johnson is money from here, Coach Joslin calls the Chiefs Money Play, Near Formation, HB Toss, the camera pans wide and you can see the defense is stacked in the middle, no one has the outside edge. QB Blake Strickland takes the snap, then tosses it in the wrong direction, FUMBLE! Eagles recover, this one is over.

Ealges win!

Re: NFL Head Coach 09 Dynasty

Week 14

Dallas Cowboys @ Kansas City Chiefs

The Cowboys come to Arrowhead Stadium looking to take advantage of Chiefs rookie QB Blake Strickland. Dallas Coach Wade Phillips let it be known that the Cowboys would be putting 8 men in the box all game. "If the Chiefs want a win, then they are going to have to do it through the air. We will stop their run game."

The game looked to be a shootout, as the teams put 24 combined points on the board in the first 10 minutes of the game. Dallas started it out with a 26yd FG by Nick Folk. KC responded on the ground with a 29yd TD run by HB Larry Johnson. Johnson showed how physical he can be on that one play, breaking 4 tackles and positively manhandling the defense. HB Felix Jones wasted no time putting the Cowboys back on top with a 100yd kickoff return for a TD. The Chiefs respond with a 73yd pass and catch by WR Dwayne Bowe.

In the 2nd quarter the Chiefs fall apart. They can't run, they can't pass and more importantly they can't stop the Cowboys. HB Marion Barber adds a 3yd TD run, and TE Jason Witten adds a 3yd TD reception to give Dallas a 10 pt. lead heading into the locker room.

In the 3rd quarter the Chiefs manage to close the gap to 3, when HB Larry Johnson makes an 8yd TD run.

The Chiefs then take control in the 4th adding two more scores, a 10yd reception by TE Tony Gonzalez and a 4yd run by HB Larry Johnson. The Chief lead by 11.

The Cowboys take the ball with 4 minutes remaining and drive down the field. QB Tony Romo looks brilliant on third down conversion, and finishes the drive with a 11yd pass to WR Terrell Owens. The Cowboys make the 2pt coonversion, when QB Tony Romo scrambles in after being unable to find an open receiver. DAL 32 KC 35, 45 seconds on the clock.

Coach Wade Phillips calls for a regular kick. A couple of kneel downs and it is over...what was Phillips thinking? By going for the regular kickoff rather than the onside kick, he conceded the game.

Chiefs hold on, Chiefs Win!

Re: NFL Head Coach 09 Dynasty

Week 15

Baltimore Ravens @ Kansas City Chiefs

Coach Joslin is a pretty calm coach, not given to yelling at players, or sideine outbursts, but without a doubt rookie QB Blake Strickland is testing the limits of Coach Joslin's composure.

So far this season, QB Blake Strickland has turned the ball over 28 times (11 fumbles- leading the league in fumbles, and 17 interceptions-16th in the league) Arguably, Strickland could be credited with two more fumbles that the league assigned to HB Larry Johnson. That's 30 turnovers! Of those turnovers, 6 have been turned into immediate points for the opposing team.

QB Strickland struggled so much with pitch plays during the start of the game, Coach Joslin put in backup QB Alex Brink for a time.

In a mistake filled game, the Chiefs manage to comeback, and then hold their lead to win.

In news, that has to be on the minds of all the Kansas City faithful, HB Larry Johnson left the game with a leg injury. He was taken to the locker room for X-rays and did not return. HB Johnson wasn't the only injury (albiet the one everyone is talking about) also injured were both MLBs D. Bost and A. Alan, DE's Mark Anderson, Eric Baker and Glenn Dorsey, OLB Napoleon Harris and FB Charles Ali. If KC's Trainer Robert Wyman doesn't step up, the Chiefs could have a hard time fielding a team next week.

The Chiefs head to the nation's capital to face the 7-7 Washington Redskins next week.
