It looks that way.

Campbell would have meant I had a real shot at the playoffs this season though, regardless of cuts. I wanted to stuggle....not quite this bad though.

Going into the next game against Philly without Chris Samuels. He's gone for the year with a back bruise.....

Portis is gonna play though. Bout time.

Redskins Shock Undefeated Eagles 34-0 in Philly During Primetime

Washington went into Philadelphia and handed the undefeated Eagles their first loss of the season on Monday night. The Eagles appeared unfocused for most of the game while the Redskins displayed a willingness to lay everything on the line.

Philly opened with a drive to the Washington 28 yard line only to watch what turned out to be their only scoring chance fall short as Akers missed the 45 yard FG attempt. Washington took over on its own 35 only to have starting guard Randy Thomas go out due to injury. The Skins carried on in spite of the loss and on a 4th and 14 situation at the Philly 43 yard line Coach Eastwood elected to go for it rather than punt. The gamble paid off as Stills found Devin Thomas at the Pilly 18 yard line. James took the ball off left tackle for the score on the next play.

Philly never got in sync, and washington would score twice more in the first half; once on a 28 yard pass to Fred Davis, and on on a 30 yard Serna FG as time expired. The Serna score was set up by another 4th down conversion pass to LeRon James.

"Sometimes, you just have to roll the dice and let what happens happen" Eastwood said later. "We were 0-4 in our division so far, we knew how good the Eagles were, I mean we knew we were gonna have to take some chances and hope for the best."

Washington continued to score as the second half when Clinton Portis took the ball 16 yards with 10:53 remaining to extenc the score to 24-0. "Felt good to be back in there," Porits commented. "Just to play after the injuriies and all, it just felt good to get in there and score."

The Eagles had one more chance to get back into the game when McNabb drove the offense to a first down on the Washington 22 with 12 minutes left in the game. A Lopez sack on first down, 2 incompletions, and a Riley deflection of a 4th down pass to Desean Jackson effectively ended any threat the Eagles would pose. Philly would only get in scoring range once more with 1:49 left in the game. Riley would end that drive with a 65 yard INT return for a TD, then pick off the forst pass of the following possession.

The Redskins can celebrate for the moment after beating an undefeated division rival on Monday night, but the players don't expect much slack during the week as they prepare to face the 2-7 Carolin Panthers.

"Coach is gonna drive us hard. He'll smile a bit tonight, but tommorrow we go right back to being a 3 win team trying to prepare for the next game." Stills said.

Eastwood seemed to agree. "We want to finish strong. We hope this is a beginning of that, but we know in the long run all it did was get us 1 win. It's not gonna change a season of a franchise by itself. It feels good, but we have to go right back to work tommorrow."

Re: Coaching career of John Eastwood: An experiment in realism

Starting Guard Randy Thomas goes on IR after tearing his ACL and PCL in the last game. He joins LT Chris Samuels, who was placed on IR just a week before.

RT Jon Janson also pulled a hamstring in practice and will be out 5-6 weeks.

Washington next travels to Carolina to take on the 2-7 Panthers.

Re: Coaching career of John Eastwood: An experiment in realism

Not much to say about this game. Turnovers were the difference. Just trying to run the clock out in the last few seconds of the 1st half when Beason picked up a James fumble and took it back for the TD as time expired. That was about the story of the game right there.

My O-Line is a train wreck. Constant pressue on Stills and not much run blocking. On the flip side, my D-Line is just as bad and the first scoring drive went 65 yards on my defense with not a single pass play against me.

Washington Falls to Giants 37-14

I could do a complete write-up of this game, but that would be redundant. Just repeat the following over and over:

Giants drive the field. Score!

Kevin Boss!

Redskins punt/turnover/sacked.

Kevin Boss

Giants dirve the field. Score!

Kevin Boss!

Toss in a 67 yard TD run for LeRon James at the end of the first half and you pretty much have the game.

Oh, and mention Kevin Boss a few more times.

Re: Coaching career of John Eastwood: An experiment in realism

Redskins Improve(!?) to 4-8, Defeat Oakland 24-23

Coming into this game, I thought "Yes, a game I can win." I mean Oakland is 1-10 for a reason, and Kelly James has been an INT machine for them this season.

On the first drive of the game, Riley picked off James and went 45 yards for a TD. Oh yeah, this is nice.

Oakland countered with a nice drive that James capped off with a 35 yard pass to McFadden. Ok, I figure my defense sucks, and that's about par for the course. Still, no real worries.

I have to punt on the next drive, and the Raiders drive straight down the field for another TD pass from James to Miller.

Redskins counter nicely in the second quarter, driving down the field to set up a 32 yard FG. Which Serna missed. Ok, now I'm starting to get that sinking feeling in my gut.

Raiders take the ball straight down the field again for a McFadden TD run from 8 yards. Janikjowski missed the extra point, which, as it turns out, was HUGE.

Finally my offense gets on track a bit and I close out the first half with a 10 yard TD pass from Stills to Woods. Halftime score is 20-14 Oakland, but I get the ball to start the second half.

Second half turns out to be an offensive mess fo both teams. No one can do much of anything. Redskins manage a FGfield goals to set the score at 20-17 for the 4th quarter.

4th Quarter Redskins drive the ball but Serna missed the 35 yard FG witrh 4:35 to go.

Raiders have to punt, but on the Skins drive Stills again throws a later pick (he has a habit of that) on the Redskins 46 yards line. Now I'm scared. I'm going to lose to a 1-10 Raiders team.

Somehow I manage to hold the Raiders to a FG with 1:50 left in the game. I have no rtealistic shot at winning the game with the way my offense is playing. I die just a little inside. Suddenly, from my own 20 on first down, the corner covering Santana Moss jumps at a pass on a mid range out route. I envision the INT return that will send my controller smashing through my television screen, but he barely missed the ball and the next thing I know Moss is streaking 80 yards for the winning TD.

Redskin win 24-23 and I avoid humiliation....for this week.
