Re: Coaching Career of William Munny

Week 9

Atlanta Falcons (7-0)
@
Arizona Cardinals (3-4)

The Falcons travel to the desert to face a disappointing Cardinals team. Despite having arguably one of the best young WR Corps in Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Early Doucet, the Cardinals have struggled. Most people point the finger at QB Matt Leinart, and rightly so. QB Leinart is completing barely half his passes, and has more interceptions than TDs so far this season.

The Falcons on the other hand are the surprise team of the year. They are tied for the best record in the league with the Raiders, both are undefeated. The Falcons are a balanced team, getting strong play from all three facets of the team, offense, defense and special teams.

Most people are picking the Falcons to stomp the Cardinals.

Re: Coaching Career of William Munny

Raider Resurgence

The combination of HC Gary Hammermill and rookie QB Mike Zazzalli has made for a potent, go for the throat offense, that has the Raiders undefeated after 8 games. Here is a quick look at their stats.

QB Mike Zazzalli 212/350 (60%) 3098yds (387 avg per game) 25 TDs, 8 INTs, 36 rushes 146yds (4.0 avg), TD, fumble

HB Darren McFadden 55 carries 178yds (3.2 avg) 10TDs, 37 catches 757yds, 6 TDs

WR Johnnie Lee Higgins 44 catches, 537yds, 4 TDs, 6 drops
WR Jeremy Bloom 41 catches, 544yds, 4 TDs, 9 drops
WR Ronald Curry 35 catches, 523yds, 6 TDs, 5 drops

The Defense has also benefitted from the emergence of QB Zazzalli in HC Gary Hammermill's Michigan Spread offense. With the Raiders jumping ahead early, opposing teams are forced to throw to get back into the game, creating opportunities for the Raiders defense.

FS Michael Huff 4 interceptions
CB DeAngelo Hall 4 interceptions
ROLB Thomas Howard 3 interceptions
LOLB Sam Williams 3 interceptions
CB Nnamdi Asomugha 3 interceptions
CB (Nickelback) Dwayne Wynn 2 interceptions
SS Gibril Wilson 2 interceptions

That means other than linemen, every Raider starting on defense has at least 2 interceptions!

Raiders #1 ranked Offense
#1 Points per game: 40.5

#1 Passing Yards: 3287
#31 Rushing Yards: 357
#1 Passing TDs: 27

Re: Coaching Career of William Munny

Atlanta Falcons News

GM J. Strausser resigned several role players this week.

HB Carl Stewart 2yr deal worth $800k, $250k bonus, incentives for starting 16 games and 1000yds rushing

C Eric Woods got a 3yr deal worth $800k, no bonus or incentives to provide some cheap inusurance for the O Line.

LOLB Angelo Craig agreed to a 2yr deal worth $620K, no bonus or incentives

MLB Stephen Nicholas signed a 6yr extension worth $8.5M, $3.5M bonus, incentives for starting 16 games and 50 tackles

K Torry Brownlee agread to a 2yr $920K deal with a $50K signing bonus, no incentives. This signing was unexpected. K Brownlee handles all the kicking duties for the Falcons and was expected to ask for more money, in which case Coach Munny and the Falcons would of let him go at the end of the season.

The Falcons were unable to come to terms with CB DeAnthony Nails and QB Russell Horton. Both Nails and Horton are looking for crazy money. CB6 DeAnthony Nails wants a deal that will pay him between $1.5-$2M a year, and the guy has never suited up for a game. QB Horton wants starting money, a 6yr deal in the $30M range with a giant signing bonus. GM J. Strausser let their agents know that no deals would be forthcoming, and that they shouldn't bother to call...he wouldn't be seeing either player's agent again.

Re: Coaching Career of William Munny

Atlanta Falcons News

Everyone Loves A Winner

Coach William Munny is experiencing amazing success at the Falcons new head coach and pretty much everyone loves him. HC Munny's approval rating is at an all time high of 98. With the only ones expressing some disastisfaction being his players (97). Although much of that grumbling is the result of HC Munny being unwilling to resign guys to outrageous deals that hurt the franchise.

HC William Munny
Overall Approval: 98
Fans: 99
Media: 99
Owner: 99
Players: 97
Staff: 99

A few coaches not doing so well are Browns HC Romeo Crennell, he's 3-6 this season and has an overall record of 28-45 with no playoff appearances. HC Crennell is on the hot seat, and is expected to be fired if things don't change dramatically in the next 7 games. The Fans are particularly angry over a 62-14 thumping the Browns received at the hands of HC Gary Hammermill and the Raiders.

Cardinals HC Ken Whisenhunt is also on the hot seat. HC Whisenhunt is currently 4-5, and has gone 15 of 26 with no playoff appearances during his time in Arizona. Cardinals fans expected a lot more, and Whisenhunts decision to go with QB Matt Leinart this season might just be the last bad decision he makes in Pheonix.

Washington HC Jim Zorn looks to be on his way out as well. The Redskins have tumbled to a lowly 1-8 this season, and under HC Zorn are 8-17 without even whiffing the playoffs. Washington's owner has spent too much money and too big an ego to let this go on.

Dolphins HC Tony Sparanp probably wasn't ready for the job. That's the simple truth. He went 3-13 last year, and is 2-7 this year. Admittedly, the Dolphins are talent poor, but wasn't that why the Dolphins brought in HC Sparano and a new GM...weren't they supposed to improve the roster and make the losing stop?

Mike Singletary the 49ers former DC, is wishing he hadn't taken the HC job with the Jets. Singletary is 2-7 this season and the New York fans are calling for his head.

Tampa Bay made a blunder in hiring Seattle STC Bruce Dehaven to be their new HC. He's 3-6 and has made arguably some of the worst personnell moves of any team out there. I mean starting Steve Battle over Brian Griese...or even seeing Brian Griese is your best QB and not doing something about it. HC Dehaven has turned the once proud defense into the laughing stock of the league (ranked 31st, only the Chiefs are worse), but at least he's consistent, he's ruined the offense as well (ranked 31st, only the Texans are worse).

Cincinnati's new HC Rob Ryan is also in hot water with the Bengals fans. The Orange and Black faithful felt they had everything in place, but Ryan just can't seem to win the close games, losing 3 games by 3 pts in the 4th quarter. Ryan is 4-5 with the Bengals and could still turn things around.

Re: Coaching Career of William Munny

(Been busy lately, managed to play some games, but as always getting stuff posted is the real time sink...so I'm going to post some results, and stats will follow when I have a bit more time.)

Week 10

Buffalo Bills (4-4)
@
Atlanta Falcons (8-0)

The Bills showed some signs of making this one a battle when RB Marshawn Lynch busted a tackle and went 43yds for a TD in the first quarter.

The Falcons quickly put any thought of an upset to rest by scoring 31 unanswered points in the 1st quarter and adding another 17 unanswered in the 2nd half for a lopsided Falcons 48 Bills 7 victory.

The stars of the game were HB Michael Turner and HB Jerious Norwood. HB M. Turner got most of the carries early on, but with the game in hand Coach Munny turned more and more to HB J. Norwood. In the end, but HB's rushed for over 100yds (M. Turner 28 for 150, 2 TDs; J. Norwood 24 for 135, TD).

CB/PR Demario Waddell continued to show flashes of brilliance with a 72yd punt return for a TD.

DE Antonio Perez continued his pursuit of the Defensive Player of the Year award adding 7 sacks.

Falcons host Eli Manning and the (7-2) New York Giants next week.
