Rams Dynasty

I have a little time on my hands over the holiday and thought I'd run a new dynasty.

I will primarily be simming games in order to move quickly through seasons. I may play a couple of games in the season and will play all the playoff games. Not doing a whole lot of rules or restrictions on this one, although I will be using the ADEMBROWSKI sliders that I have set as default.

Coach Ken Joslin
Playcalling 4, Strategy 3, Performance 5, No special Skills

Playbooks:
Offense: Joslin Air Strike- based off Patriots Air Strike with runs from the Full House formation added, and some other changes.

Defense: Joslin Tampa 2- based off Tampa 2 with some editing and a handful of Man Blitz plays added

Philosophies:
Coaching Hire- give up no control
Trade- down, neutral, heavy, aggressive
Draft- team needs
Contract- normal, normal, $5mil, talent, normal, evenly, flexible
QB Field General
HB Balanced
FB Blocking
WR Balanced
TE Balanced
OL Size
DT Run Stopper
DE Speed Rusher
OLB Pass Rusher
ILB Balanced
DB Man Coverage
K/P Balanced
Evaluation-draft, role
Playcall- Blitz Hvy, Man, HC, 4-3, Aggressive, Hvy, HC, West Coast Pass Hvy
Depth- Bench, Bench, balanced, balanced, balanced
Injury- Aggressive

Press Conference up next

Re: Rams Dynasty

A Savior Comes to St. Louis?

Ken Joslin is smart, energetic and confident he's the right choice as new coach of the St. Louis Rams.

Joslin oozed enthusiasm during a news conference to introduce him as Scott Linehan's successor on Saturday, even if he did not offer specifics about his plan to help the Rams climb back among the NFL's elite.

Joslin takes over a team that has struggled in recent years. The Rams have not been to the playoffs since 2004, and are coming off of a 3-13 2007 season.

Tired of losing, and lacking confidence in HC Scott Linehand, owner Raymond P. Goodnight, decided to make a change. The Rams had been considering promoting from with, but in the end decided to go with someone from the college ranks.

"He's a leader, commands the respect of the team ... and his peers," team owner Raymond P. Goodnight said.

"Ken can relate to today's NFL player," Goodnight added. "The game has changed a lot. It's always changing. ... If you don't adapt to those changes, you can't compete."

Although he has no previous head coaching experience, Joslin doesn't believe owner Raymond P. Goodnight and general manager Ray Zest are taking any more of a gamble on him than any team does, when they bring in a new head coach.

"I'm confident in my abilities. I have no problem telling you, I'm a better coach than some of the guys out there doing it right now. I've been successful at every level, I've coached, and I'll be successful at this level."

Following a record breaking season at Oklahoma State University, several colleges were interested in hiring Joslin. Joslin also reportedly interviewed for a coaching position with the Redskins, Raiders, Dolphins, Vikings, and Jets.

"We went out and played our hearts out, earning a Bowl trip, and I'm very proud of it. But, it's time to move on. It is time for me to step out from Mike's shadow and show what I can do on my own." , said Joslin.

Nevertheless, Joslin conceded that even he's a little surprised by his rapid ascension, especially considering he was a new offensive assistant/QB Coach for less than a year with the OSU Cowboys.

"It's really hard to even imagine right now. It's all happened so fast," Joslin said.

Mike Gundy lured Joslin away from NE Oklahoma A&M. Joslin joined the Cowboys as QB Coach/Offensive Assistant. OSU Head Coach Mike Gundy had this to say about Coach Joslin.

"He's one of the more young and dynamic coaches in the league. He's a guy that everyone in the locker room looks up to for the way he knows this game, and for the way he approaches this game."

When asked about what he plans to do specifically, Coach Joslin had this to say, "First thing we need to do is get rid of some deadweight. I'm looking ahead to the draft and can tell you we will be pretty aggressive come draft day. There is going to be a lot of new faces around here come opening day."

Rams Gearing Up For 2008
The Rams don't use the franchise tag, but do give FS O.J. Atogwe a level 2 RFA tender, meaning that it will take a 1st rounder to pry him away from St. Louis.

Despite tendering FS Atogwe, new HC Joslin wastes no time in free agency going out and grabbing FS Eugene Wilson. Wilson signed a 5 year deal believed to be worth around $4.2M/year. The only other free agent the Rams signed was LT Torrin Tucker (2yr deal worth around $600k/year.)

St. Louis a Revolving Door

New HC K. Joslin has set a new record, completing a whopping 28 trades in the FA period. Coach Joslin had this to say, when asked for comment, "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to upgrade the talent level on this team. I'm not interested in keeping guys around because of what they did in the past, or whatever. Mark my words, we'll do more deals before the start of the season."

(Normally I wouldn't trade like this, but I wanted to see how many guys I could get rid of...and ended up being shocked by how many guys I could unload, and the deals I got with a little persistance.)

HB A. Pittman sent to Carolina for 4th and 7th in 2008

WR D. Looker sent to Cleveland for QB Ken Dorsey and 6th, 7th 2008 picks

QB McCown sent to Ravens for a 3rd and 6th in 2008

QB K. Orton joins the Rams from the Bears for a pair of 7th rounders

QB Orton sent to Tennessee for a 5th and 7th in 2009

FB R. Owens sent to Patriots for 6th round pick.

Rams get HB Kevin Faulk from the Patriots for a 4th and 6th

WR Avant dealt to Raiders for 3rd and 6th in 2009

Chiefs send SS Greg Wesley to Rams for a 5th rounder

Rams send SS Wesley to GB for a 4th rounder

After all of the trades the Rams have amassed quite a cache of picks for the upcoming draft.

Rams 2008 Draft Day One Recap

Round 1

#2- HC Joslin trades away the #2 pick to KC for 5th, 17th, and a 7th rounder

#5- HC Joslin considers taking LB Keith Rivers, but in the end trades down to the Ravens for #8, 4th, 5th

#6- The Rams take the opportunity to dump a couple of guys by giving the Jets OL M. Setterstrom, HB K. Faulk and 2nd round pick (#33) for the #6 pick...which St. Louis sends to Carolina for the #13 and a 2nd rounder.

#8- HC Joslin wanted to trade out of this spot, but couldn't...so the Rams address one of their areas of greatest need by getting CB Mike Jenkins. Jenkins is expected to start opposite CB Tye Hill on openind day.

#13 sent to Redskins for #21, 2nd and 7th

#14 Rams convince the Bears to give up their pick for TE Randy McMichael, OL Levoir and a 2nd rounder. HC Joslin gets stuck with this one, so he decides to grab OLB Vernon Gholston. GM Zest wanted Gholston at #2, so he's a bargain 12 spots down. Rumor has it that Gholston will be moved to DE.

#17 sent to Sea for #25, 3rd and 4th

#18 Rams jump up to 18 grabbing the spot from the Texans for TE Desmond Clark, DE V. Adeyonju and 4th round pick. The Rams then send the pick to NE for 3rd & 4th rounder and the Patriots 1st in 2009

#26 Jags give up the pick for QB Chris Simms and a 3rd rounder. HC Joslin sends the pick to the Raiders for their 1st and 4th round picks in 2009. Coach Joslin had this to say about the trade "The Raiders 1st round pick in 2009 could very well be the #1 pick, and to be frank I was sick of Chris' dad calling up trying to give me advice."

2nd Round

#35- sent to Baltimore for #38 and 6th, 7th rounders

#37- in a scene that has become all too familiar the Rams jump back up grabbing tis pick for WR Drew Bennett and a 4th round pick. They then send the pick to Indy for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks

#38- St. Louis takes MLB Tavares Gooden

#43- HC Joslin takes DE Calais Campbell
