Re: Bringing Back the Run and Shoot-A Titans Dynasty

Training Camp 2009

Signings-signed RE Calais Campbell to 4 year,5.0 million dollar deal, 500K Signing Bonus.

Signed CB Ty Law to be my 2nd CB on a 1 year deal.

Season Goals:

Increase Patrick Willis Play Knowledge to 48%

Increase Kevin Mawae's PK to 34 %

Increase David Stewart's PK to 25%

Add 10 New Plays

Play Patrick Willis 50 downs

Play Dre Moore 50 downs

Play Marcus Griffin 50 downs

Unfortunately, Mawae can't play a snap without getting hurt, so I'll fail this goal. He is 35 after all. Steve Justice will do well enough at center for now. Upgrading my offensive line is a major goal next draft. I may not play all the preseason games in the future, I didn't get a lot of points in the 2nd and 3rd preseason game. You should play some though, just for the spike in approval you get with defining moments. I've got my Offensive Playbook to Learned and Defensive to Mastered, so i'll finish Preseason tomorrow.

Re: Bringing Back the Run and Shoot-A Titans Dynasty

Preseason 2008

I played the first 3 preseason games, but supersimmed the last. You don't seem to get much more points for playing preseason games than supersimming them, but I think you would want to do it the 1st preseason to improve approval rating. I went 3-1 in the preseason, but lost a tough game to the Raiders.

Game 1-Titans 35, Rams 0

Robinson 83 rec. yds, Campbell 3 sacks, Willis 1
Coach Upgrades-HC-Performance 2 and 3 & Strategy 2, GM-Small School Insider
Injuries-CB Cortland Finnegan-broken wrist-4-5 weeks, CB Reynaldo Hill-triceps strain-3-4 weeks

Game 2-Raiders 33, Titans 27

Campbell 3 sacks, Bulluck INT
Injuries-CB Tom McNeal-Torn Calf Muscle

Game 3-Titans 34, Falcons 16

Bennett 110 yds receiving, Haynesworth and Campbell sacks

Game 4-Titans 17, Packers 7 (supersimmed)

Coach upgrades-DC-Strategy 4, GM-QB Scouting 2

Preseason Promise-Win at least 3 games

Draft Path-Zazzali again

Season Goals:

Crush Jaguars in Week 1(possible)
Win 3/4 games-Fast Start
Beat Colts on Monday Night in Week 8(yeah, right)
Re-sign DT Albert haynesworth
Re-sign RT David Stewart
Hire a new GM
Have 90 + Approval

I'm starting the season with my approval at 80. I doubt I'll resign either Haynesworth or Stewart, I prefer to build my team through the draft. I'll post my roster next.

2008 Roster

One of the things I notice about the Titans roster is the lack of large signing bonuses. Young has the biggest one at 18 million, but it's only 12 million at this point. I'll do my best to continue that trend.I'll post position, name, overall and potential, total cap, cap this year, signing bonus, and years left from left to right.

Roster Overview:

I have major holes to fill at OL, TE, WR to some extent. I don't expect to resign either Haynesworth or Stewart. Haynesworth has a 79 injury rating, and I'd rather draft a 1st rounder to fill Stewart's spot. I may end up signing both to 1 year deals until I can fill their roster spots. Keith Bulluck may end up being franchised in a couple years, the Zazzali path is weak at OLB, at least the first couple of years.

Re: Bringing Back the Run and Shoot-A Titans Dynasty

2008 Season-Game 1

I went ahead and starting playing the 2008 season. C Kevin Mawae got hurt in the first possession, so Steve Justice played the rest of the game. The one TD Jacksonville had was scored on a created play I tried, except there was no one defending the WR(OOps!). Ray Rice had the most impressive TD run I ever saw. He outran 4 Jaguars to the end zone, and carried one on his back the last 10 yards to score the TD. I beat the Jaguars 34-13.

Coach upgrades-OC-Strategy 4, QBC-Performance-2, OLC-Performance 2.

Injuries-C Kevin Mawae-strained groin-out 2-3 weeks, LOLB Xavier Adibi-High Ankle Sprain-2-3 weeks.

Defensive Player of the Week-Craig Steltz

Re: Bringing Back the Run and Shoot-A Titans Dynasty

2008 Season-Game 2

The next game was against the Bengals. I noticed both teams were having a severe struggle running the ball, so I moved the Defensive Awareness slider to 30 after the game. This one came down to the kickers-I kicked more FG than the Bengals, so I beat them in a tight one 16-11.

Re: Bringing Back the Run and Shoot-A Titans Dynasty

2008 Season-Game 3

This was a close one throughout, and I needed a strong push at the end to win this one. The Texans had a good pash rush and did a good job of disrupting my passing game and forcing INTs. I ended up beating them 27-17.

Re: Bringing Back the Run and Shoot-A Titans Dynasty

2008 Season-Game 4-Vikings at Titans

I should have lost this game. I sure gave Minnesota enough chances to win it
. Vince Young threw 4 INTs in the 1st Half and was gone by the 3rd quarter. The Vikings secondary forced 5 INTs in total, but couldn't overcome their QB. They must have had some injuries, because the Vikings QB was third-stringer Jared Zabransky, a 52 overall QB! Calais Campbell and Keith Bulluck both had good games-Campbell had 4 sacks and Bulluck 3. Bulluck won Defensive Player of the Week, but I would have given it to Vikings SS Darren Sharper who had 3 INTs. I beat the Vikings 24-3.

Coach upgrades-HC-Innovator, DBC-Phys Dev DB 2

Injuries-DT Rodney Leisle-injured knee-3-4 weeks.

Re: Bringing Back the Run and Shoot-A Titans Dynasty

2008 Season-Game 5-Titans at Ravens

You really can't run a effective offense if you spend the entire game on you back. That's what happened to ravens QB Kyle Boller, as LE Calais Campbell sacked him 6 times, to reach the 10 sack plateau. Both running games were shut down, so it ran to Vince Young to pick up the slack. We beat the ravens 34-14.Campbell was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Coach upgrades-OC-Performance 3.

Injuries-CB Ty Law-strained hamstring-2-4 weeks.

Re-signings-

1. Re-signed RT David Stewart to 6 yr, 24.3 million dollar deal, 4 million signing bonus. It's only 3.3 million on cap, and I can trade him with such a low signing bonus if the need arrives.

2. Re-signed LT 77/82 to 6 year, 5.8 million dollar deal, 1 million signing bonus.

Retirement
Notes-C Kevin Mawae-Titans will retire after the 2008 season. Other retiring players are P Jeff Feagles-Giants, K Jason Elam-Broncos, MLB Junior Seau-Patriots, QB Chris Weinke-Chiefs, QB Brad Johnson-Cowboys, QB Mark Brunell-Redskins, RE Phillip Daniels-Redskins, and HB Ahman Green-Texans.
