BEARS 2010 Free Agency and Draft

Free Agency:

GM Meese grabs another former Giant in MLB Antonio Pierce 3yr $14M deal with a $2M bonus ($4.3M cap hit)

Draft:

Bears work a deal with the Bills to move up. Bears get the Bills 1st round pick, #10 for the Bears 2011 1st and 7th round picks.

1st #10 HB Derick Nickerson, SMU
1st #30 QB Kalen Fox, Ga. Southern
2nd #59 WR Al Sanford, Army
2nd #62 HB Trey Clark, Iowa
3rd #94 LE Ed Mackey, San Jose St.
4th #126 TE Cornelius Bradley, LSU
7th #222 SS Rodney Gordon, Midwestern St.

Trades:

Panthers trade CB Richard Marshall to the Bears for HB Derrick Ward and 2011 5th round pick. Ward became expendable when the Bears drafted 2 HB's and picked up another as an undrafted rookie free agent.

Broncos trade TE Daniel Graham to the Bears for 2012 4th and 6th round picks.

Bears 2010 Preseason

Week 1
Bears 0-3-7-7-----17
Titans 10-0-0-3-----13

Week 2
Bears 7-10-6-0-------23
Ravens 0-3-7-6-------16

A little bit of an upset in the HB competition in Chicago. Last year's starter HB Jonathon Stewart has been demoted to 4th string. No real suprise there with his history of injuries and the Bears taking two running backs in the draft and grabbing another from the undrafted rookie free agents. What is surprising is that their #1 pick HB Derick Nickerson of SMU was beat out by HB Trey Clark, Iowa a third rounder and even E. Sikes, Weber State.

Week 3
Chargers 0-0-0-7------7
Bears 14-14-10-14---52

Week 4
Vikings 6-3-0-0------9
Bears 7-3-3-7------20

Free Agent signees:

RG Roy Schuening beat out the Lions for him 1yr $800k deal
DT Shaun Rogers no one else bid on him 1yr $1M deal

Coaching Changes

Special Teams Coach Bobby April replaces Mike Smith as Atlanta's head coach.

General Sanders leaves Army to take over in SF

Eric Mangini is out for the Jets and Alan Lowry is in.

Rex Ryan takes over the Raiders and keeps his brother as DC...is that nepotism?

Eric Manigini leaves the Jets (unvoluntarily) and takes over in Baltimore

The Bears beat last year's Super Bowl victors easily. That's a good sign for the playoffs coming up.

The Bears finish the season with a 14-2 record and are going to the playoffs. They face the Giants in the Wild Card round.

Re: NFL Head Coach Dynasty

Did some sims and I've decided this one is broken. In the Sims, the Bears win the next 3 Super Bowls.

No way that should happen with this team...they just aren't that good.

I'm currently playing around with sliders to find a custom set that works for me. My goal is to basically come up with a set that will make playing the games a challenge and produce reasonable stats.

I've had some success so far, but want to run some more tests. Also considering some other House Rules to increase the challenge.

Basically there isn't much point in playing if I can win every game without much effort.

Re: NFL Head Coach Dynasty

Made some adjustments, added a few more rules to increase the challenge and started over with the Raiders. Check it out, and let me know what you want to see.
