Suggs to New England? Jeez.

Great haul in the draft.

It could have been worse-they could have drafted Rivers. I was really tempted to trade up to 12, but I decided against it. As for the draft, you never know what path you're going to get unless you pick one. I feel the best decision for the 2008 draft is to trade down as much as possible. I'll make sure to track trades next time.

2008 Season-Game 1- Colts 38, Bears 7

The Colts did what they usually do with teams with new coaches and new playbooks. I felt we had a chance as we were only down 3 points at halftime, but things rapidly went south after Serna missed a 55 yd FG to tie it. Johnson threw his 3rd INT the next possession, I kept him in despite a Defining Moment, and the Colts scored 28 unanswered points the 2nd Half to ice it.

Coach upgrades-HC-Disciplined Routine, OC-Team Chemistry 2, DC-Playcall 2, LBC-Playcall 2, DBC-Performance 2, DLC-Strategy 2.

NFL Notes-HC Mike Holmgren has a approval drop, HC Brad Childress has a approval increase. I dropped 20 points in approval from 65 to 45 after the game.

2008 Season-Game 2-Bears 30, Panthers 3

A good bounceback game for my team. We had the rushing game going, and Campbell had a good game with 5 sacks, winning Player of the Week.

CU-HC-Playcall 2, DC-Lrn Dev DB 2, WRC-Performance 3, OLC-Performance 2.

NFL Notes:

HC Dick Jauron-approval boost from online fan poll.
Texans trade RT Eric Winston to Jets for 2009 5th and 6th.

2008 Season-Game 3-Bears 38, Bucs 14

Not really sure what happened in this one. The Bucs had a 14-7 lead and I wasn't doing that well. Serna missed a FG, the Bucs were driving and I had a successful Defining Moment. After the DM, it seemed like all my struggles were over. If I didn't know any better, I might think you get a gameplay boost/punishment from Defining Moments.Josh Johnson was named Player of the Week.

2008 Season-Game 4-Bears 20, Eagles 13

Just a matchup of 2 really good defensive teams. I really hoped 20 points would be enough to win, because the Eagles defense wasn't letting me have any more. The difference in the game was a fumble Steltz returned for a TD. Things might turn out different if we meet in the playoffs.

Injury-FB Carl Stewart-broken fibula-3-7 weeks

Player of Week-SS Craig Steltz, 7 tackles, FF, FR TD.

CU-HC- Team Chemistry 2, DC-Phys Dev DL 2, QBC-QB Int 3, RBC-Lrn Dev RB 3, OLC-Playcall 2, LBC-Team Chemistry 2.

Re: Change in Chicago-The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2008 Season-Game 5-Bears 56, Lions 7

Josh Johnson threw his fair share of INTs in this game, as Lion defenders picked 4 off to go with his 4 TDs. My defense scored 3 defensive TDs off Kitna, so a comfortable win was turned into a blowout. Kenny Phillips was named Defensive Player of the Week with 2 INTs.

Trade-Traded CB Ricky Manning to Lions for 2009 4th.

CU-HC-Int Dev RB, WR 2, OC-Perf 3, WRC-Int Dev TE 3, DLC-Lrn Dev TE 3, GM-Mid Major School Insider.

Contract Negotiations:

I'll sign any backup who will sign for no SB and less than 1 million a year-unless they have a potential 85 or greater. I'll track my negotiations as well as significant in-season moves from other teams.

Bears P Mitch Berger-3 years, 3.1 million, 500K SB.

Bears LT Ryne Young-75/88-3 years, 1.2 million, 0 SB.

Packers RT Mark Tauscher-91-31- 3 years, 20.4 million, 3.5 million SB.

Rams HB Steven Jackson-89-25-6 years, 43.2 million, 8 million SB.

Re: Change in Chicago-The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2008 Season-Game 6-Bears 37, Falcons 11

The Falcons should have drafted Darren McFadden, instead of going with QB Matt Ryan. Ryan got injured on the first series ,and 3rd string QB John Booty was pressed into service. I checked later, Ryan has like a 70 injury rating. I felt the Falcons defense played pretty well, but Ray Rice had a 88 yd TD run late in the game to put this one away.

CU-Int Dev TE 2, OC-Lrn Dev OL 2, STC-Performance 3, DBC-Int Dev DB 4, GM-Rookie Scouting QB 2.

Contract Negotiations:

Bears K Alexis Serna-3 years, 4.1 million, 500K SB.

Bengals DT Tommy Harris-90-22-6 years, 41.3 million, 18 million SB.
