Re: Change in Chicago-The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2009 Season-Game 1-Bears 35, Lions 21

The last thing I expected was to give up nearly 400 yards passing to QB-Killer Ken Dorsey. I expected my pass defense to be better than that. I mean, a Pro Bowl QB Ok, but Dorsey? It could have been really close if Vasher doesn't intercept a pass in the end zone. We did get the win, but we'll need to do better against the Giants.

CU-HC-Team Chemistry 4, QBC-Lrn Dev QB 3, RBC-Lrn Dev RB 3, DLC-Int Dev DL 3.

Josh Johnson was named Player of the Week with 403 yards passing and 76 yards rushing.

NFL notes:

HC Jon Gruden won his 100th game.

2009 Season-Game 2-Bears 28, Giants 23

The best thing about the game-we won it. Manning beat me time and again by throwing to the TE-I'll need to mix coverage plays and blitzing when I play the top coaches. The Giants kicker missed 2 FG, and Moon returned a Manning pass for a TD, both which were critical in the win.

CU-HC-Phys Dev TE 2, DBC-Lrn Dev DB 2.

NFL note-Falcons LOLB Michael Boley will not re-sign after his 1 year deal is up.

Re: Change in Chicago-The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2009 Season-Game 3-Bears 13, Bengals 7

It looks like the house rules are working-all competitive games this year. Still, Johnson needs to watch the INT's. The running game picked a good time to show up, and special teams provided the margin of victory. The bye is next, and we'll face the Ravens.

In my career, Ravens HC Harbaugh has started off his coaching career 0-20. I did a sim and he finished 0-32 before being fired. I find it hard to believe with Ryan as DC.

Re: Change in Chicago-The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2009 Season-Game 4-Bears 29, Ravens 14

The Ravens may not be very good when you sim games, but they're a beast to score against. I finally just decided to stay in Cover-Three the whole game to shut down the passing game. It seemed to work, as it resulted in 4 INTs. I don't know who C. Miles is, but he had a field day against Josh Johnson. 3 INTs, and 2 were returned for TDs. If I had one fear, it was that the Ravens would win by defensive TDs.

CU-HC-Playcall 3, OC-Phys Dev OL 2, GM-Pot Eval RB 3.

Contract Negotiations:

Not a lot of negotiations for me this year, but a lot of other players re-signed long term. I'll list the major Pro Bowl-quality players that re-signed.

1. Chargers LT Marcus McNeill-95-23-7 years, 73.8 million, 35 million signing bonus.

2. Saints WR Marques Colston-87-26- 6 years, 43.6 million, 8 million SB.

3. Broncos WR Brandon Marshall-91-25- 6 years, 52.3 million, 10 million SB.

4. Browns WR Braylon Edwards-89-26- years, 47.9 million, 18 million SB.

5. Patriots RE Richard Seymour-92-29- 6 years, 50.4 million, 10 million SB.

6. Giants RG Chris Snee-91-26-6 years, 34.3 million, 10 million SB.

2009 Season-Game 6-Bears 76, Vikings 10

The Vikings are bad this year. I won't say a lot, just about everything went right for us, everything went wrong for them. The Vikings linebacker Greenway intercepted a pass and was tackled on the 1 yard line. It went about like that for the Vikings.

OPOW-Josh Johnson-420 pass, 43 rush.
DPOW-Calais Campbell-7 tackles, 5 sacks, FF

Re: Change in Chicago-The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2009 Season-Game 6-Bears 34, Cardinals 7

It was really a pretty good game. The Cardinals have a good defense, and a top pass rush. Their offense however, needs a bit of work. Say a QB, HB, and offensive line. Larry Fitzgerald is the offense right now, but the Cardinals have him signed long term.

DPOW-Calais Campbell-11 tackles, 8 sacks.

2. Redskins RG Randy Thomas-91-32-3 years, 17.2 million, 4 million SB.

Re: Change in Chicago-The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2009 Season-Game 7-Bears 33, Bucs 21

It was really a lot closer than this-McFadden scored on a 60 yd TD run on the last play of the game. A Phillips INT also ended any comeback attempt for the Bucs on their last possession.
