Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2008 Season-Game 1-Steelers 17, Texans 13

So near and yet so far-the Coach Michael Smith era in Houston gets off to a resounding thud. A good game played on both sides, if only the fumble return TD hadn't been reversed. The Steelers did what they needed to do-10 sacks on Johnson, ran for 12o yds, and played really good defense. Things won't get any easier-the next 4 weeks are the Ravens-Titans-Jaguars and Colts-ouch.

Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2008 Season-Game 2-Ravens 18, Texans 17

This game felt a lot like the Steelers game, but we were able to shut down their running game. We had the 17-3 lead, but we just couldn't hold it. Coach Smith had a few words to the players after the game.

"I explained to the owner that the win 3 out of first 4 goal was totally unrealistic, especially with the schedule we have this year. It'll take time for the players to learn the playbook, also to develop properly to the point we can beat the other teams in the division.I'll push for a winning season this year, anything after that is gravy."

2008 Season-Game 3-Texans 22, Titans 17

A good running game and Serna's 5 FG's helped us get back on track for this must-win game. I was a bit worried after Titans KR Eddie Royal returned a kickoff late in the game for a TD, but we recovered the onside and ran the clock out.

Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2008 Season-Game 4-Jaguars 37, Texans 34

Not the way I wanted to start this dynasty out, but you're just not going to win the game if your defense is on the field 40 minutes. I feel I still had a chance to win the game, if I don't sub Woodson in to throw the INT.It led to the last Jaguars TD, and the following JOhnson TD was meaningless. A rough start, and I feel it'll take a miracle to beat the Colts in the next game.

Re: The Coaching Career of Michael Smith

2008 Season-Game 5-Colts 24, Texans 13

I'll admit it-I supersimmed most of this game. I was a bit surprised we did as well as we did. Naturally, when I entered the game again to call plays, Johnson went back to throwing INTs.

Coach Smith made a decision after the game-he traded both Ben Noll and Jeff Faine. Coach Smith- "I simply don't think the backups can do much worse at protecting the QB"

CU-DBC-Perf 2, DLC-Lrn Dev DL 2

Re-signing-Texans re-sign CB Dunta Robinson-5 years, 18.4 million, 3.5 million SB. I'll admit it-I re-signed him for the approval bump-Owner Approval +40. Approval is at 70 after the 4 losses-It could be a lot worse

Trades:

Texans trade RG Ben Noll to Raiders for 2009 2nd and 2010 7th.

Texans trade C Jeff Faine to Lions for 2009 2nd.

2008 Season-Game 6-Texans 40, Dolphins 28

This was my second go at the Dolphins game, I forgot to save after the first one. In this one, the Dolphins had no answer for Josh Johnson-run or pass. He garnered Offensive Player of the Week honors by 267 pass yds, 170 rush. It really was the story of the game, although the Dolphins did make it competitive.

2008 Season-Game 7-Texans 47, Lions 18

The way the Lions came out on in this one I was really worried I was going to lose this one. 3 straight FGs for me, then they get a TD, then I get another FG to take the 5 point lead at the half. My team really seemed to catch fire after we recovered a Lions fumble, and there was no looking back after that. One more game against the NFC North leading Vikings, then we get back to playing the Titans.

2008 Dynasty-Game 8-Texans 44, Vikings 6

I'm really enjoying my run through the NFC North so far, they've helped me get back to .500 for the moment. The Vikings played good ball for 3 quarters, but things really fell apart for them in the 4th. I do feel there were a bit too many turnovers-I'll look to address that with the sliders for the next game.
