Well, that went about as well as I thought. I leaned hard on my power run game, and we were pretty successful. However, Peyton was near-unstoppable till it was out of reach - then he started missing passes.
Coming out of the half only down 28-13, we drove right down the field. Then, the ball gets tipped, Taft returns it and it's 35-13. Ensuing kickoff, we fumble. Peyton hits a TD and it's over at that point. When Peyton finally took a seat and gave the game to Orton, it was 56-13 and there was still the whole 4th quarter.
We had several drops, threw 3 picks - 2 for touchdowns, and lost 2 fumbles. Just a terrible performance. Indy never let up, even with the backups in they just kept throwing. Luckily when their backups were in, we were able to get some pressure.
Also, the Colts only had 2 TEs... of course one, Tamme, got hurt. So the game stupidly subs in your backup QB for the TE. Not only is this stupid, but in the 4th, the Colts used Peyton as their second TE. He was called for 3 false starts, but at least he never caught a pass. Just dumb substitution logic on the game designer's part.
Oh well - not going to lose any sleep over this one. I knew being the first game, with almost no playbook knowledge and facing the Colts at home we were going to get demolished. Mission accomplished. Off to the next game!
Oh yeah, first drive, first quarter - the Colts score, and we take over and march down. 4th down and the Defining Moment tells me to go for it. seriously. I didn't and took the hit. After the loss my approval is a massive 18. Up next, the 0-1 Panthers!
p.s. I don't feel too bad, the Falcons gave up 62 points in their loss too.
