I feel like that's a step down or a lateral move at best for Buzz.

For him, equal level team, getting a pay raise, going back to Texas where he grew up, made it an easy sell.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

That and it's a less competitive conference than the ACC.

Re: 2019 Coaching Carousel Thread

If it’s just about the money and going home, then yeah smart move because Tech wouldn’t be able to match that anyway.

From a Basketball Standpoint? Nah, I don’t see it. Basically swapping out Dook/UNC/UVA with Kentucky, Tennessee and Auburn. And it’s not like he struggled with the former either. The latter are teams that are on the rise and will continue to get better.

Re: 2019 Coaching Carousel Thread

Not sure I agree with that.

Prior to this season, Tech didn't finish any better than 7th in the ACC, not since the Seth Greenberg years.

Last year's 7th place ACC finish would've put them in the top 4 in the SEC in the same year. We know that Duke, UNC, Virginia and UK are perennial title contenders. We don't know that yet about Auburn and UT, although yes, things are looking up for them.

And if by "not struggled" means 1-4 this season against the ACC's Big 3 (1-6 including FSU), with that 1 win coming against a Duke team minus Zion, then okay.

Even if you take out Auburn, you still have Florida, who’s always been one of the top teams in the SEC and LSU as well on the up and up as well.

In regards to your last point, I was speaking in general, not just this season since prior to last week, they’ve won 3 straight against Dook, with or without Zion there.

In the ACC, everyone knows it’ll always be Dook, UNC and now UVA near the top. After that, it ranges from year to year. Been that way since Maryland left. Next year, they’ve probably would’ve been right up there with those 3 in the ACC(It was always going to take time before seeing results and by Year 3, they started to show, hence never finishing than 7th).

Money and allowing him to return to his home state...A&M has that advantage all day. Everything else like Basketball and Exposure....just can’t see it being better than what he had.

Can't see him finishing better than 5th and 7th in the SEC? We'll agree to disagree, then.

Sure, they may have won 3 out of the last 4 against Duke, but in the previous year, they're still 1-4 against UNC, UVA and FSU - so they're still 4-10 against those schools over the last 2 years.

One of Tech's best teams and they still went 1-6 against Duke, UNC, UVA and FSU. Give me those 4 teams as far as year to year consistency goes over any 3 + Kentucky from the SEC.

Wasn't too long ago that your own Mark Turgeon and Billy Gillispie had A&M competitive and competing for SEC titles every year. A&M should be able to recruit well, too.

Gillispie was there from 2004-07 and Turgeon left before y’all started playing in the SEC so when when y’all were competing for SEC Titles again?

You sure you’re not talking about the Big 12? Lol. I know y’all been there since about 2012-13 but y’all ain’t gotta front like y’all are SEC Day 1s my man, lol.

Oh and FSU definitely isn’t in the same sentence as those 3, don’t let these last 3 years fool you into thinking that because they were NIT regulars not that long ago.

Honestly, that forth spot after Dook/UNC/UVA is always up for grabs so really it’s just those 3 and everyone else. Just like in the SEC where it’s Kentucky, Florida and then everyone else(basically whoever gets the recruits that Cal isn’t taking)year in, year out.

FWIW, I wish y’all would take Turgeon back since he can’t recruit to save his life despite being in one of the bigger Basketball hotbeds in the country(DMV). Never understood the hype about him when he got up here and still don’t get it now.
