Re: 2019 Coaching Carousel Thread

Yup, that's my bad. Definitely Big 12 years, although yes, those teams were competitive, with the likes of Kansas, Baylor and Texas. See, this is what I get for defending A&M, LOL. Might be the last time I defend Aggie for the next 10 years. Not an Aggie fan, but yeah, Turgeon should be doing much better at Maryland.

Agreed to that point about FSU, but they have still developed into a solid program and Tech has struggled against them over the past few seasons.

I think he'll have a slightly better go in the SEC. Florida needed some key wins down the stretch to get in the tourney as a double digit seed. We saw South Carolina get to the FF a few years ago and they have since come back to reality, UT was close and Auburn just broke through. I don't think anyone would consider any of those 3 schools as basketball royalty, so from a competitive standpoint and recruiting, I see Buzz having more potential at success at A&M.

They both are strong conferences, but I think the ACC has more elite teams (3 vs 1) and less "free squares (0-2) and more consistency at the top (the team that won the SEC regular season title this year didn't even make the tourney last year).

Does that mean I think he'll win a national title there? Nah, but consistently finishing in the top 3-4 and SEC tourney titles aren't outside the realm of possibility. That would be more than what he can say he's done at Tech.

Now, I think his tourney success won't be any different - Sweet 16-caliber runs, which is ultimately what matters. I just think the road to the tourney will be slightly easier for him at A&M than it was at Tech.

Watch A&M go 5-13 in conference play next year.

Really hoping UCLA is still looking for a coach after today.

Well they still are since Barnes turned them down. UCLAs search has been a complete clown show, I don’t even know where they turn from here.

Relieved Barnes is staying. Really didn’t want yet another coaching search at UT.

If UCLA now goes after Mick Cronin and they get him, it will be a total disaster.
UCLA fans will hate his style of play and he wont last 2 years.
They are running out of options I just read he is next in line for them to persue.

Re: 2019 Coaching Carousel Thread

Multiple sources here in Cincy are saying Cronin has taken the UCLA job.
6-11 all time in the tourney, made it out of the first weekend only once.
Good luck at UCLA, youll need it.
