That would be a big hire for FSU, especially if he can handle the RBs and Special Teams.

He's a solid special teams coach (not great though), but probably the best RB coach in the country.

Re: FSU Football 2010

My money would be on Sal, but Jimbo will definitely try and get Kirby. I'm sure Georgia will too.

Gran won't be coaching special teams from my understanding. He will be the RB coach and recruiting coordinator with Coley moving up to be the OC.

Florida State closes in on Alabama assistant coach Sal Sunseri

Quote:
Florida State is zeroing in on Alabama associate head coach and linebackers coach Sal Sunseri as a leading candidate for the defensive coordinator vacancy on new coach Jimbo Fisher's Seminoles staff.

Sunseri is expected to interview as a possible successor to retiring Seminoles defensive chief Mickey Andrews, and a deal could be announced as early as this week, multiple sources have told the Press-Register.

Andrews plans to coach Florida State's defense through the Gator Bowl. That means if Sunseri is offered and accepts the FSU job, he would likely be in a position to stay on with the Crimson Tide's staff through the BCS national title game against Texas.

Sunseri was set to make $325,000 in his first year on Nick Saban's staff at Alabama, with the total set to increase to $340,000 next season. He coached the outside linebackers and edge rushers, filling the on-field role vacated by Lance Thompson. Sunseri has never been a coordinator at the Football Bowl Subdivision level.

Fisher and Saban are friends going back to Fisher's tenure as Saban's offensive coordinator at LSU. The Seminoles had initial interest in current Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.

"You hope that the people that are there are working to move up the ladder," Saban said when asked about possible vacancies last week. "We always want our coaches to be able to do that. We want to help them do it."
