16-20 in years years at Michigan is still unacceptable. The admin might not pull the trigger but I wouldn't fault them if they did. I think the only way Rich Rod would get a solid breather is a win over the Bucks (and MSU) and a Bowl win.

With that being said I don't want Rich Rod to fail but if he isn't getting the job done its just time to move on and find someone who can elevate M Football back to the platform it belongs on.

That's a bunch of bull, IMO. Stop looking at it from a "This is Michigan" perspective. Going from 3 wins to 5 to 8 would be excellent progression. You fire him after an 8-4 season, congratulations, welcome to mediocrity, Michigan. You are now officially Notre Dame.

I'm willing to concede that 4 regular losses is probably not grounds for termination. I just want to see M Football succeed. Get back to the top of the BigTen, put Sparty back in place and beat the Bucks.

Don't know what will happen down the road, but it's really hard to see RR getting fired if he makes a bowl. He would be making progression every year and rebuilding an eroding program. While I do think they will make a bowl, it will be very difficult beating OSU, especially since we go to to the shoe this year.

Perhaps. But after watching this past year's game I think Michigan has the talent to beat OSU. The last game was certainly competitive enough that I thought it was possible. I think at least 8 wins will give him another year of breathing room, but I'm not sure about 6-7 wins. Unless some of those include wins over rivals.

Rich Rod's best chances IMO are at least 9 wins but, if RR pulls a 01' Tressel and surprises everyone with a BigTen championship/and or BCS appearance his critics will be silenced overnight. That is what I am hoping for.

Re: 2010 Michigan Wolverines

I don' t want to sound like I'm saying that we definitely would have beat the Bucks if we had Brandon Minor or Carlos Brown, but, they only beat us by 11, and our two starting RBs were out hurt...so it could have been a different story.

Granted we won't have them this year, but our players have gotten better. It will still be a tough task, but how nice it would be for our first victory over OSU in six years, be in Columbus?

As far as RichRod goes, I think he is definitely in the hot seat, but he has many ways of keeping his job.

First of all, if we goes to a bowl, and even lose the bowl, I think he'll stay. Because he obviously would have made progress, and got them to a bowl.

If we don't go to a bowl, but end up beating a few rivals, like Notre Dame, Michigan State, and/or Ohio State, he'd keep his job - although if we beat guys like that, we would probably win enough to get to a bowl.

I even think, if somehow we aren't going to make it to a bowl...we've only won 4 games all year, but we beat OSU in the shoe, he may end up keeping his job, because that game, is The Game! It's important.

Anyway, I definitely don't want him to fail, because if he fails, and we have to get someone else, it may be another few years before that coach gets the personnel he needs, to make the Wolverines the team that he wants them to be. It would be like starting over.

This bugs me like no other! All I will say is, if they do fire him, they better find someone who runs the same system. If not, it will set us back 3-4 more years.

Yeah I agree as long as he makes it to a bowl game then I think he stays. They only way they fire him after making a bowl game is if UM gets blown out by MSU, Notre Dame, and OSU.
