Re: 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide

LOL at all the "SI cover curse" people. When was the last time that "worked?"

That aside, I LOVE this year's D and how T. Rich through five games has surpassed Ingram's '09 stats through 5 games and is a Heisman front-runner.

However, I feel that it is still a tad early to heap such praise on our defense. Yes, we've been dominant so far, but get back to me after the LSU game next month and ask me what I think of the Bama D and if they're the best ever.

Re: 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide

Here's the article

Quote:
"It's like you're playing a defense from the NFC South when you go against Alabama," says an offensive coordinator on a team that has played the Tide this season. "After studying them and seeing them up close, I can honestly say they have no weak spots. Their linemen are monsters. Their linebackers look like linemen. Their safeties look like linebackers. Their corners are big. And all of them are incredibly fast—NFL fast. On top of that, they are the most disciplined, gap-sound team I've ever faced, which means they're never out of position. Saban is as good of a defensive mind as I've ever come across."

Re: 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide

Am I the only one surprised at the play of McCarron? I knew he'd be solid by year's end, but wow. He's already ahead of McElroy at this point(when comparing him to McElroy of 2009). His ability to step up in the pocket to avoid the blitz, making smart throws, threading the needle on the sidelines. He needs to improve on the passes beyond 15 yards and not have the ball sail high on him quite so much but those are fixable.

I think his streak passes thrown without an INT is at 127. If his comfort level continues to increase with this offense, we'll be a championship caliber team come November. Not there yet, but it appears we're headed there.

Defense is stout as usual. I totally agree with Gary Danielson, LSU is faster all around but Alabama is more physical. That game is going to be unreal.

Re: 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide

Not really surprised, we know he is capable of those kinds of games. I was moderately impressed though. He really got bailed out by White though on one but outside of that and some of his usual overthrows, he performed like the QB we'd been hyping him up to be. Hopefully he can keep it up on a consistent basis.

Speaking of White, how money was that guy? That one touchdown catch in the back of the endzone, I didn't expect him to have hops like that.

Defense started out really flat but they settled in in the second half. I like that they're finishing but I hope they can get those first half woes past them.

I know one person who's definitely not impressed with him. I'm looking at you lady in section U3-B. To me, he's showing the poise that will make him one of the all-time greats at Alabama. It's amazing to look at him now and think back to the kid lobbing passes into triple coverage against Mississippi St last year. A couple more tune-ups before LSU should make for one hell of a game.

Re: 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide

There are a bunch of rumors going around that Bama and Miami are in talks to play in the 2012 Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic at the Georgia Dome.

http://www.fbschedules.com/2010/05/a...llege-kickoff/

I thought Bama and Michigan already agreed to play in Dallas to open next season but that article says the opponent could be Texas Tech instead and that a contract hasn't officially been announced? Would Saban agree to play 2 neutral site, non-conference games?

Re: 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide

Man I really hope it's Michigan next year in Texas. I was hoping to make that, don't think I would be up for making a trip to see Tech. Playing Miami doesn't move me either.

Re: 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide

Going to bite the bullet and sit in the student section for the LSU game. Hopefully I can get into the lower bowl and not be sent to the upper deck.
