Oh come on. Dantonio has coined a name for the fumbled punt play. He's calling it Rangers: Mission 4:10.

I didn't see that at all. They had better QB play and that was about it. Maybe a slightly better pass rush. But our secondary played better than theirs and our special teams....gulp....played better for most of the game. Both run defenses were fairly stout. It was a pretty even game considering that Connor Cook >>>>>>>>> Jake Rudock.

I guess it's all semantics, but back to the original point about Michigan not deserving to drop, I don't understand why an average performance capped by a loss on the final play in fluke fashion warrants staying at the same ranking. Judging by the eye and judging by the statbook both suggest MSU was the better team Saturday, so why does the ending have any bearing on whether Michigan should drop? Eye test: MSU, Stats: MSU, Scoreboard: MSU ... but Michigan should stay where they were? it feels like pity

Historically, close losses to teams that are ranked ahead of you don't penalize you much. It's sort of an affirmation that, yes, the other team was better to begin with so the expected result happened. This is just how the media and press have gone about the polls ever since I've followed college football. Throw in a fluke play and it's even less of a penalty--the national perception is that it was Michigan's game and then all hell broke loose.

Basically I understand Le Batard's point about team rankings changing because of the W or L, but I feel this game was a poor example

Brady Hoke went on the radio and said that he would not have punted on that play. That's just the cherry on top of this **** sundae.

He must've forgotten the previous year's game.
