And 2018 ends with a thud.

Re: 2018 Michigan Wolverines | Team 139

Knowing how Harbaugh operates, I wouldn't expect him to be forthcoming in any press conference about potential changes to the staff etc. I think it's even money whether Pep goes or stays. I'm not sure about Don Brown--he was a guy that I thought was happy to coach the rest of his days as a DC, but then he goes and interviews for the Temple HC gig.

At least with Harbaugh it's not "just executing better" that cures all. That (and not wearing a headset) infuriated me about Brady Hoke. Harbaugh is acutely aware that the team is not getting things done late in the year (see the rest of that press conference you quoted parts of for substantiation).

One additional thing that I kinda sensed but didn't do any research on until now--Michigan scored TDs on their opening drives exactly twice this season. In both the 56-10 jailsexing of Nebraska and the 42-7 beatdown of Penn State. This goes back to the playcalling, but the team really needs a new OC and a better set of scripted plays to open with.

My bold prediction: McCaffrey unseats Patterson next year

I could see that. My concern with McCaffrey is his string bean stature though. He might be injury prone if not given an NFL O-line to work behind or if asking him to dual threat. So I could see both him and Patterson getting a significant amount of snaps. The wild card is that I think Harbaugh loves Shea Patterson like a son. I think McCaffrey would need to show significantly better in spring practice to beat out Patterson.

On another note, Lavert Hill and Josh Metellus said they're both returning next year. I expect that David Long not being part of the announcement might mean he's gone-zo. We'll see. One minor bummer with Lavert coming back and Daxton Hill is they'll need to wear L. Hill and D. Hill on their jerseys. Would definitely rather that than Lavert go pro early, however.
