    2011 Recruiting Thread

NSD is only 364 days away, who does your team have committed?

For FSU right now they have:

    3-4* RB Eric Beverly
4* DB Lamarcus Brutus (sounds like a WWE name, doesn't it?)
    4* DB Keelin Smith

And the one I am most excited about, elite OL Trey Pettis. If Rick Trickett offered him off of Sophomore film and junior observation this kid will be special.

I'd also imagine potential 5* recruit, and likely #1 player in Florida Karlos Williams will commit to FSU fairly soon.

    Michigan has:

Detroit (MI) Cass Tech CB Delonte Hollowell
Fremont (OH) Ross CB Greg Brown

Both should be high 3*, low 4* players. I actually like Hollowell better than Dior Mathis, but I'm not sure the recruiting sites will agree.

Michigan also offered 2011 instate OL Anthony Zettel today. He's a lifelong UM fan and has been thought to be an instant commit once offered. MSU offered over the weekend, but UM should be able to lockdown Zettel and DE Brennan Beyer, two of the top 5ish players in the state.

Now if only we could get a sniper to take out the Detroit Renaissance head coach............(I kid.)

Alabama has WR Marvin Shinn from the hotbed of Mobile, AL. He projects as a high 4 star. Somewhere in the 40-50 range of the Rivals100.

Also, we have Brent Calloway. Likely a LB at Alabama. He also projects as a high 4 star most likely in the 60-70 range in the Rivals100.

Spencer Region will decide soon on a college. Most likely Alabama. He's a 4 star type. Probably cracks the Rivals250.

        Ohio State has:

Canton McKinley (OH) 4-5* DE Steve Miller
Toledo Whitmer (OH) 4-5* DE Kenny Hayes

Likely 3* S Ronald Tanner should be a Buckeye soon... expect an announcement in the near future. Top 5 QB (and 4-5* QB) Braxton Miller is expected to be a Buckeye before his senior year starts.

Overall Ohio is very strong this year... one of the deepest classes in years.

Miami is going balls out for that diamond in the rough 2* long snapper out of Evil Chipmunksville, ND. Shannon is working hard on it now, but you won't anything until next NSD.

off the top of my head...

Hilliard (more than likely going to end up #1 RB)
            Collins
            Hill
            Landry

and a few others. all those could be 5 stars

James Wilder Jr. will be the #1 RB in the next class.

I think both of you are wrong. I say it'll be Aaron Green of Texas.

I'm going to go out on a limb and not be a homer and say it's going to be DeAnthony Thomas since he's the only RB actually ranked #1 by any of the sites.

I'll maintain this until Auburn is on the radar for a good prospect, and then he clearly deserves the #1 ranking.

                    Louisville has the following:

4* DeMarcus Smith. Figures to be one of the top dual threat QBs next season

then we have Jerrell Moore and Jamon Brown from Fern Creek. Both are 1* right now, but people project them to max out around 3*. Then we have Devantae Parker, another 1*.

Something's not right with the Spencer Region situation.

He was committing to Alabama the whole time and then at 10:30 AM decided to go to Auburn.

Not to mention he's been a strong Bama lean the entire time. Guess he doesn't want to follow in the steps of Andre Smith, Antoine Caldwell, and Mike Johnson.

How often do you speak with Senior Spencer? Is he kinfolk?

Is there not a chance that he may just want to play football for Auburn instead of Alabama?

Guess he doesn't want to follow in the steps of Andre Smith, Antoine Caldwell, and Mike Johnson.
                        Apparently he does not.

Then again, it's not like every BCS school hasn't produced a similar or better list of offensive linemen.

Bizarre ... RT @AndrewJBone: Spencer region drove to his p.c. today as a commitment to alabama. He gave me his commitment story this morning

Region was a life long Tide fan and even gave Scout.com's Bama writers his committment story. But then at the PC he changes to Auburn at the very last second. I find that extremely odd.

And Andre Smith, Antoine Caldwell, and Mike Johnson were starters on the '08 team. All 3 are in the NFL(Smith 1st round, Caldwell early 3rd round, Johnson projected 3rd round) and all 3 were AP 1st Team All-Americans their last season at Alabama. I know for a fact Auburn can't come close to that.

                              I'm sure you believe that.

I guess he'll only get to "follow in the steps" of Marcus McNeil, Willie Anderson, and Ben Grubbs.

As I said, there isn't any BCS program in the country that is incapable of producing a good offensive lineman. If Baylor, Virginia, Maryland, Vanderbilt, Pitt, and a host of mid majors can produce top OL prospects, I think Auburn can.
