This won't surprise anyone around here, but it was still an interesting read, though I'd share.

The article doesn't have anything to do with negotiating contracts.. it's about the ethics of paying amateur players as an avenue toward building a client base

And the person writing the article didn't even go to college. People who aren't lawyers have no business doing that job, the NFL brings this **** on itself by letting these losers have highly competitive jobs that they don't have the skills to begin to handle. Of course corruption will be rampant.

I don't see why not.

Being an agent is far more personal connections than intelligence. I certainly have no idea why someone would need to be a lawyer.

People who aren't lawyers have no business doing that job, the NFL brings this **** on itself by letting these losers have highly competitive jobs that they don't have the skills to begin to handle.

Why?

It's not like you have to be particularly educated to become a lawyer. The Ivy, Chicago, Stanford, Georgetown, Duke set isn't going to want to become agents, nor would they have any actual ability to.

Really all requiring them to be lawyers will do is force them to get one of the numerous law school diploma mills to sign off on their JD.

If actually passing the BAR was required then there wouldn't be any agents since there'd be no money in only representing clients from one state.

Having a college education does not guarantee ethics. This isn't a question of education, it's a question of ethics.

There are plenty of losers right now struggling to get by with their law degrees from run of the mill schools. I never knew that certain degrees were required by jobs simply because they are highly competitive. If those without law degrees have no business being sports agents then why would there be successful sports agents without one.
