Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread

Keep an eye on Joel Caleb tomorrow. Nothing concrete, but some rumblings out there...

Dodson is a true OT IMO. He could play LT if you need him, but he would be perfect at RT.

We need depth at T badly, so losing him is going to sting.

4* super athlete Dennis Norfleet flips from Cincinnati to Michigan. Undersized, but one of the best pure football players in the state. 5'7, 170, but rated 4* by three of the four services. Great player.

I am sure you know recruiting but the truth is star ratings mean nearly nothing. The average high school star rating for first round NFL picks in the draft from 2005-2009 was 3.4 stars.

Both are great players. Both will be game changers for their teams. Whether one is ranked #1 or #2 doesn't matter one bit.

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread

I love what Washington did today. Getting Shaquille Thompson was HUGE. Before I say this, I want to preface it by saying that I think it has less than a 10 percent chance of happening, but could Arik Armstead sign with the Dawgs tomorrow? Sounds crazy, but him and Thompson made a pact that they would attend college together. Originally, the choice was Oregon but Thompson chose Washington at the last minute... Maybe he is still trying to work on Armstead and get him to Seattle... Like I said, I highly, highly doubt it, but you just never know. Recruiting is crazy.

Hopefully Jaydon Mickens can qualify. Some think that he won't. I love that they snagged Jordan Payton as well. Keith Price has some serious weapons at his disposal. If Cyler Miles keeps his commitment, the quarterback position is locked up for the next five years at least. With Jeff Lindquist in the mix, these two will battle it out for the reins once Price graduates. Adding Payton and Mickens to an already young and talented receiving corps is exciting.

If Washington can get commitments from Brandon Beaver and a couple other defensive recruits, this class will be a smashing success. The day they had was unbelievable. They jumped 25 spots at list and now have a top 20 class according to Scout. My hope is that maybe, just maybe, they can snag a mystery prospect tomorrow (well, today actually).

It still stings that Banner, Garnett, Russell and Dozier left the state, but it is what it is. At least some ground was made up...
