Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread

Mixed emotions on this class for Auburn.

We were in the top 2-3 for several signing day decisions and obviously missed on several.

That being said.... Rivals has us at #11, #13 on Scout. We're bringing in 11 4 star prospects in this class out of 19 commits, with Stefon Diggs, Alex Kozan, and Jordan Diamond still out there with AU as possibilities. I'll take it.

Our offensive class is outstanding at every position. Zeke Pike at QB, Jovon Robinson at RB, Ricky Parks and Darrion Hutcherson at TE, Avery Young, Shane Callahan, Will Adams, and Patrick Miller on the OL, JaQuay Williams and Ricardo Louis at WR. We also added a proven All American FB in Illinois transfer Jay Prosch. That side of the ball stands out for sure.

The 2013 class needs to be heavily focused on the defensive side of the ball. We have a great start to that with DL Dee Liner and LB Trey Johnson already in the fold.

Harbaugh's recruiting strategy, per several articles I read on him while he was there, was really pushing the bonus of getting a "Stanford degree" when you commited to Stanford.

That is a powerful tool in itself simply because of how prestigious that school is.

I'm sure that is also very attractive to kids if they don't pan out in the NFL..they have a degree from Stanford in their back pocket.

Yep. He made the challenge of passing Stanford's admissions department into a recruiting pitch that no other school can beat, in any area.

Stanford went head to head with essentially every major program in America for three of the top offensive linemen in the country in the same recruiting cycle, and landed all three of them. That's just nonsense.

...Of course I'm sure Stanford putting two junior OL in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft had something to do with it, too. I know DeCastro was a MAJOR factor for Garnett.
