If they were that good they'd be employed somewhere else. Not to mention the ratings are far too general. There is no such thing as a recruiting expert.

No better than 99% of the nfl draftniks. There are maybe 4 of of those guys who are truly employable in the league, and most of them were already in high profile nfl jobs.

All these sites do is milk people for money in subscriptions do those people can pretend to know more than they really do.

And they miss on multiple evaluations EVERY year. I'm not getting into this debate again though....

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread

I think they serve as a pretty good guideline, people just need to be more aware that just because a guy is a 5* recruit doesn't mean he's going to next stud. And vice versa with 3*, a lot of 3* guys tend to be underrated for a few reason that good coaching fixes.

It's the same thing with the draft, and noone really questions those experts as much as we do when it comes to recruiting.

I love getting 5*s but I know they still have to put in the work and actually do something, and that 3* can be coached into top players, etc.

I generally trust in LSU's coaches atleast that whoever they get in recruiting is there for a reason no matter what recruiting services say.

Exactly, if they were experts at evaluating talent they would either...

A: Be a recruiter for a college
or
B: Be a college scout for an NFL team

They're sitting at a desk ranking kids 1-5 stars for a reason....

Or more likely they'd be coaching somewhere. You think anyone who's really savvy and knowledgable in the game wants to be writing for scout.com?

They are like Mel Kiper. Great for getting tidbits of info or measurables, but useless for any real player evaluation.

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread

Felt like looking up some old rankings to show how bad these guys miss....

2009 ESPNU 150
There were 11 receivers ranked ahead of South Carolina's Alshon Jeffery

The only one to eclipse 900 receiving yards this season, Reuben Randle....

Running Backs: Wisconsin's Montee Ball was the 50th ranked RB in the 2009 class...

Just look at Notre Dame, Boise or FSU.

Must mean good things abrewing on the Diggs front...
Fricking Meyer! If Diggs isn't a Gator, I hope he ends up at Maryland.

Stanford is going to be ready to maul. What a crop of O lineman.

What a bunch of drama with Harvey-Clemons and his grandpa. Jeez.
