If family was the number 1 factor he could of went anywhere in the big ten. He obviously has home state pride and wants to try to propel IU into relevance. He can do it too in a few years, this will make their skill position recruiting take a huge boost for IU standards too.

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread

Gunner Kiel, number one prospect at QB, is going to Indiana.

He goes to school about 3 miles from where I'm sitting.

I can't believe this.

His brother goes to IU...

That will be pretty awkward next spring when they are both competing for the starting position.

Also, 4* defensive tackle Justin Shanks has committed to Florida State.

I don't think either brother thinks competing for a starting position will be awkward or else Gunner wouldn't have committed to IU in the first place. People just look at the possible negatives of Dusty and Gunner being at the same school and not the possible positives. I wouldn't be surprised if Dusty ends up moving to another position if needed like linebacker which is what he also played in high school if Gunner ends up becoming the starting QB.

Gunner is the biggest commit for IU football in years. Maybe Earl Haniford in the 90's was big at the time too bad he wasn't very good. Also, IU will finally have a top commitment from a prospect I feel a 100 percent certain will show up on campus unlike Jabril Black 2 seasons ago and Raymon Taylor last year.. IU isn't going to move farther away from Gunner's home and the family aspect shouldn't change at IU before signing day.

Today was a very good day for IU and Kevin Wilson.

I haven't had this much hope since the Randle El, black and red uni days.

I hate those hideous unis IU wore then. Cam Cameron tried to turn the Indiana Football team into the San Fransisco Hooisers with that ugly red oval IU logo. Great offense, terrible defense, and ugly uniforms.

With Gunner in the mix hopefully we can have a good team and decent uniforms. I just wish they would have kept the double stripes on the shoulder pads for this season though.

Also, I see your a fellow Columbus resident. I don't live there now but, I was a born and raised in Columbus and am a alum of Gunner's high school. It will be neat to watch 3 Olympians and 1 Bulldog at IU for the next few years.

Re: 2012 Recruiting Thread

That's awesome.

I went to the Towson game last year and I believe it was either Kiel or Wilson who got a good play or something, and the announcer said something and then "Of Columbus East HighSchool" It was weird.

It will be a treat to watch him play. I'm for sure going to go to some East games this year. East vs. North is gonna be on ESPNU!
