    Are the "starting "Nickelback and Dimeback.......................


    always the 2nd & 3rd rated DB's behind the 2 CB's, Fs & SS? I realize that these position are not considered "starters" because they are usually used in obvious passing situations, but you know what I mean.

    Yes, this is usually the case, the extra backs are the CBs that don't start.

      Yes, this is usually the case, the extra backs are the CBs that don't start.

          No it will be the 3rd and 4th CBs not DBs - DBs can be also safeties.

          3rd is nickel and 4th is dime.

                            Yeah, normally they're #3 and #4 off the CB depth chart. Of course, you can go into the defensive substitutions and sub in whomever you want.
