Couple of things I noticed.
1st USC isn't in the top 25.
2nd they have Notre Dame @ 14th. How many years will they put ND in the preseason 25? The past few years now their schedules has been watered down and they still under perform.- USC 'cannot' be ranked anyway, so why bother ranking them? Until their sanctions are overturned they are 'dead in the water'.
- As a Michigan fan, I agree. Secretly, Notre Lame is 'America's Team' in college football.

1. I'm a little surprised by FSU's ranking
2. As a ND fan i'm not sure they deserve to be ranked that high. If they're going to be ranked at least put them somewhere in the 20-25 slot.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

ND hasn't been ranked in the preseason polls since 09 And before that it was 06 so it's not every year. But anyway I think 14 is too high for ND right now. I myself would put them around 22-23.Comment

Re: ESPN Preseason Top 25
Florida state and ND seem high. I'm surprised to see Texas in the top 25 after the season they had last year, although I doubt Texas are going to have two bad years in a row.Wisconsin Badgers | Green Bay Packers | Vodafone McLaren Mercedes | Andretti Autosport

Re: ESPN Preseason Top 25
As a FSU fan, they are high. I knew most places had them 6-7, which still was probably too high. FSU does have the potential to be a top 5 or even 1, but they need to have a lot of people to step up. If everyone consistently plays to their potential, then rankings could be right.Comment

I agree that FSU is too high. I would put them in the 8-10 range. Top 5 seems like a stretch, especially being ranked ahead of Oregon.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

This is only Schlabach's poll and not what ESPN released per college football live.
FSU at 3 is crazy right now but 6-10 seems right. Still think it will take another year or 2 with this staff to be a legit MNC contender.
I dont think ND is ranked too high because they could easily go undefeated with how their schedule lines up.
Not sure what to do with Ohio State with all of that nonsense
My top 5 would be
1)OU
2)Oregon
3)Bama
4)LSU
5)Boise St
Teams that could sneak into possible champ game
Arkansas-Why-Petrino is a genius and o should be even better this year. Why not?-Plays in toughest division in all of college football
Nebraska-Why-extremely talented. Why not?-Taylor Martinez and a new conference. This team will go as far as Martinez takes them
Okie St-Why-Explosive offense and no more Big XII title game. Why not?-Can they outscore each of their top opponents(OU, Texas, Mizzou)
