He was drafted in 90. Hard to believe it's been that long.

Re: College Football Off Topic

Targeting and overtime rules have been tweaked.

http://www.espn.com/college-football...les-limits-ots
  • All targeting calls will be reviewed. If the targeting can't be confirmed, it's overturned with no penalty.
  • Three targeting calls in a season will get a one-game suspension.
  • Starting with the fifth overtime, teams will just alternate two-point tries.

Not a fan of the OT changes. I do wish there were changes to the ejections with targeting also.

I'm more than okay with the targeting changes. I'm not a fan of the OT changes. That's gimmicking up an OT that's already pretty gimmicky as it is.

Awful news out of Auburn; Auburn PBP man Rod Bramblett and his wife Paula died in a car crash last night. Bramblett had been the PBP guy for Auburn sports since 1993 and is probably best known for the "Kick 6" back in 2013. RIP...

Re: College Football Off Topic

I've tried to post a little something a few times, but I don't know the best way to say what I need to say.

I'm 29 years old (going on 30) and Rod Bramblett took over PBP for Auburn football and basketball after the late, great Jim Fyffe passed away in 2003. Rod is the soundtrack to the majority of my memories of Auburn sports growing up until now. It's like listening to a fellow fan on air. Rod didn't have the absolute best "radio voice", but he didn't need to. He had passion for Auburn and he did exactly what you need and that is paint a perfect picture of what's going on whether it be the baseball field, basketball court, or football field.

I was about to doze off in my recliner when I decided to look at my phone one last time and I saw "I hope the news coming out of Auburn isn't true, this is so sad." I started searching and piecing together something happened with Rod and his wife and that they were in an auto accident. Then a few minutes later the announced his wife had passed and he had life-threatening injuries. Then about an hour later the news came that he had passed. I know people use the phrase that it feels like they have just been stabbed with a knife, but I really did feel that way.. man it hurt and still hurts when I think about it, the two children they are leaving behind, the 16 year old that was involved in the accident as well.

I've honestly never understood people being over-the-top upset about sports figures and entertainers passing away, but this one hit me like a ton of bricks and now I get it. Saturdays will never, ever be the same. I've been listening to one of my favorite shows in Birmingham today just to hear the amazing stories about Rod. There was a GoFundMe set up in order to help his two children and in 1 day it's all ready generated $140,000 in donations. One of the coolest thing I've seen is a lot of the people donating are giving $109 as a nod to Rod's kick six call in 2013. He's really just a beloved guy and it feels like we're losing a friend. I've always synced my TV with the Auburn radio broadcast, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do that now.
