Re: Week 8 Discussion

UCF would probably beat Purdue by two scores.

Like they did Memphis?

Is UCF your 9th favorite team?

No, they're a little bit lower than that. Like in the 12 or 13 range. I could give you a full rundown of how much I like all 130 teams, if you'd like?

Re: Week 8 Discussion

I love these arguments. College football is so good at creating discussions around how good teams are.

I haven't watched UCF this year, but college football teams across the board have been down the last few years. Aside from Bama, the separation between the great teams and good teams isn't that big anymore.

Auburn was a lot better last year than they are this year for whatever reason. Docking UCF beauty pageant points because of auburn sucking this year is one of the more illogical things I've read. Give auburn Kerryon Johnson back and I bet they're still in the top 10 this year.

Re: Week 8 Discussion

Auburn would still be a bad team with Johnson. They have big time issues that he would not fix.

We can debate more, but we'll never agree really. My whole point is that regardless if what people think about going undefeated, I don't value it as much when your SoS is as terrible as theirs is. It doesn't matter if they can control it or not. That's not the point. They play very weak teams week in and week out. You cannot convince me that Memphis is just as good as Purdue. An average P5 team is definitely better than an average G5 team and I don't think that is debatable.

Ohio State's loss to Purdue proved to anyone with the wit to see it that simply having more talent than the opposition isn't the end all and be all some of you want to make it out to be. Winning games against FBS competition is hard. Winning 25 in a row is insanely difficult, no matter who you're playing.

If UCF manages to run the table two years in a row and fails to receive serious consideration from the playoff committee it would be a damn shame.
Totally, but there are DIII teams (like Mount Union) that have ripped off some wild winning streaks in the past and yet nobody has clamored for the Purple Raiders to face Bama. Winning the games is a piece, but it really matters who you're playing.

I will agree that if UCF runs the table again (beating Temple and USF in the process) and they are being compared against a 2-loss team in a bigger conference, then I'd be happy to take UCF.

Cool.
