Why is it more impressive to beat them at a neutral site over beating them in a true road game?

Re: Week 11 Discussion

Just because I like to keep track of this for some weird reason: 41 bowls-national championship game and the Celebration Bowl makes 78 bowl spots. Can we get to 78 without losing teams?

American
Eligible: 7(7) Cincinnati, Central Florida, Temple, Southern Methodist, Navy, Memphis, Tulane
Possible: 9(9) South Florida(2), Houston(3)
Projected: 7(7)

East Carolina, Connecticut and Tulsa eliminated.

Atlantic Coast
Eligible: 6(13) Clemson, Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Miami Florida
Possible: 12(21) Florida State(1), Louisville(1), Boston College(1), North Carolina State (2), Syracuse(3), North Carolina(2), Duke(2)
Projected: 9(16) Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina

Georgia Tech eliminated.

Big 12(-2)
Eligible: 5(18) Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State, Kansas State
Possible: 9(30) Iowa State(1), Texas Christian(2), Texas Tech(2), West Virginia(3), Kansas(3)
Projected: 6(22) Iowa State

No one eliminated, though all 10 cannot become eligible due to head to head.

Big 10(+4)
Eligible: 8(26) Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa
Possible: 11(41) Michigan State(2), Purdue(2), Nebraska(2)
Projected: 9(31) Michigan State

Maryland, Rutgers and Northwestern eliminated.

Conference USA
Eligible: 6(32) Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Western Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Southern Missisippi, Alabama Birmingham
Possible: 11 (52) Charlotte(1), Florida International(1), Middle Tennessee(3), Texas San Antonio(2), North Texas(2)
Projected: 8(39) Charlotte, North Texas

Old Dominion, Rice and Texas El Paso eliminated.

Independents
Eligible:2(34) Liberty, Notre Dame
Possible: 4(56) Army(3), Brigham Young(1)
Projected: 3(42) Brigham Young

Massachusetts and New Mexico State eliminated.

Mid American
Eligible: 3(37) Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Toledo
Possible: 10(66) Miami Ohio(1), Ohio(2), Buffalo(1), Kent State(3), Bowling Green(3), Ball State(2), Northern Illinois(3), Eastern Michigan(2)
Projected: 7(49) Miami Ohio, Ohio, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan

Only Akron is eliminated, but not all 11 can become eligible due to head to head.

Mountain West
Eligible: 5(42) Boise State, Air Force, Wyoming, San Diego State, Nevada
Possible: 10(76) Utah State(1), Colorado State(2), Hawai'i(1), Fresno State(2), San Jose State(2)
Projected: 8(57) Utah State, Hawai'i, San Jose State

New Mexico and UNLV eliminated.

PAC-12
Eligible: 4(46)Oregon, Washington, Utah, Southern California
Possible: 11(87) Oregon State(2), Stanford(2), California(1), Washington State(2), UCLA(2), Arizona State(1), Arizona(2), Colorado(2)
Projected: 6(63) Washington State, Arizona State

No one eliminated, but not all 12 can become eligible due to head to head.

Southeastern
Eligible: 6(52) Georgia, Florida, Louisiana State, Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M
Possible: 12(99) Tennessee(1), South Carolina(2), Missouri(1), Kentucky(2), Mississippi State(2), Mississippi(1)
Projected: 10(73) Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Mississippi State

Vanderbilt and Arkansas eliminated.

Sun Belt
Eligible: 3(55) Appalachian State, Georgia State, Louisiana
Possible: 9(108) Georgia Southern(1), Troy(2), Coastal Carolina(2), Arkansas State(1), Louisiana Monroe(2), Texas State(3)

Right on 78 at the moment. Army can win 2 of 3 to get to 6-7, which puts them into that next group of eligible teams.

Re: Week 11 Discussion

You have Kentucky in the eliminated part and the projected part for the SEC

I was trying to sound like a ridiculous SEC football fan there. It clearly was a swing and a miss 😂.

Re: Week 11 Discussion

I really hope the PAC-12 champ gets on instead of a one loss SEC team, provided the PAC-12 champ only has one loss.

The only way the SEC should get two teams in is if UGA somehow beats LSU in the conference title game.

The more criteria they put in place for the playoff, the better.

They could start with, win your division in your conference.

Why don’t we have a thread dedicated to the CFP rankings?
