Re: First Conference to have Sixteen Members?

The ACC wouldn't necessarily need to expand to 16 if Notre Dame decided to join for football. The conference could eliminate the divisions and the championship could be between the top two schools - just like the Big XII.

The conference could continue to have 8 conference games. As for conference match-ups, they could create three 5-team "pods." Each team in a "pod" plays the other 4 teams, and each school could rotate playing 2 teams from the other two "pods."

Re: First Conference to have Sixteen Members?

I guess the SEC is the correct answer. The PAC 12, B1G, MWC, ACC, and MAC all stayed put while the Sunbelt and American expanded to 14 schools. Conference USA is down to 9 schools. The Big 12 now has 12 schools and was looking to adding more but nothing has come of that.
