this is gonna be our home fellas. just like last year. let's keep this thing going and confine all of our convo to this thread. all you thumb jockies keep of the grass.



first things first, when is the best time to call your play? i mean, if you do it too early your pg is rushing. if you wait a bit too long then they'll call whatever play you ran previously again. also, the only quick play that seems to work is quick p&r.

I wasn't aware VG sport titles had coach modes available.

I begin to call the play when my pg crosses half-court. If you call a play after another play is being run they will setup again and run the new play.

I have never used the quick plays. Do they work well?

I have fouls maxed out on AA and am having better results with the lack of fouls.

Dont bump up the 3 pt tendency or your pg will think that he is Jordan!

i'm coaching on default all-american w/ jistic's nba 2k6 foul settings and i still have guys thinking they're jordan. then again, i've been playing with binghamton all day using a spreadsheet template that i made for substitutions so that i'll know who can do what on the court. i've finally thrown overall ratings out of the window and have begun to break players down. for the most part, every player on your team can help you do SOMETHING. i think binghamton will be my legacy team. i only lost to wake by 7 pts. woo hoo!

since ratings are so important to us, what is a serviceable rating? like, what is the lowest that a player can be rating in a given category? for example, i've got a guard on binghamton's roster that has a "0" for dunking. if "0" is the lowest you can have then say a player with a 65 shouldn't be absolutely terrible right?

Good question! I know in preferences there is the choice of late game fouling manual or auto and I set it to manual be haven't been in a situation where I needed it yet. If you fiqure it out please post it.

I sim until I reach the conf tourney and this year I have a fair team. Starting 5 in the 60's. I have a winning season but when I began the tourney my best 2 players are injured. My C and PG! I won a close one in the opening round and hope that my players can be ready for the big dance if I can win the conf.

I saw last night a great battle for a rebound where they tipped the ball up 3-4 times before anyone got control of the rebound. I have seen some cool no calls on charging and some over the back calls. Some leaners in the post.

I usually ,in coach mode, wind up starting over several times when I start to see things that needed tweaking from the start. I want to play 20 minute halfs. Right now I'm using All Conference with fouls maxed out (except for charges, which are about 2/3 maxed)

I started a legacy with western Illinois, and those boys just wouldn't shoot the ball until the shot clock nearly went off. They had a 2 guard who would shoot every time he touched it, but when he was out of the game, NOBODY would shoot aggresively.

Portland State ,on the other hand , seems to be a much better coached team, that will get the ball inside and hardly ever comes up against the shot clock going off.

Recruiting is very difficult, but in my Western Ill. legacy, which I decided to junk, I did sim to the end of the season, and apparently had a 3 star guard inform me that he would sign with me ,if I would offer a scholarship. I read the email too late , but I think had I been at normal attention I would have gotten him.

i may just bite the bullet and start a temp legacy today when i get home from work. binghamton, here i come.

by the way, what difficulty are you guys on?

those first few games that i posted up for 3rd in the impressions thread were on default all-conference. since, i've been playing on default all-american. games have been better although i'm losing alot. then again, every exhibition game that i played yesterday was with binghamton. going to 15-min. halves has really made my stats alot better also. i was routinely putting up 80 or better on 20-min. halves. now i'm getting the average number of fga/game for both sides and everything falls into place from there.

Have you tried 20-min. halves with slow speed?

I'm going to do a CPU vs CPU and see how it goes, I would coach mode it but I have to study.

Doesn't slow speed just slow down the animations and everything in general? I tried slow speed before in an attempt to keep my PG from hauling *** up the court on the inbound and it didn't work. They still hauled *** up the court but they just did it a little slower. You know what I mean. :y4:

would you guys consider this cheating? editing a players tendency to shoot 3s, mid range, or close to the basket? I've been doing this to get my better shooters to shoot the ball more often....I just figure hey I'm playing coach mode...if I was a coach it would just be like verbally telling them to take more shots.

All you need to do is call plays for that shooter to shoot. I'm almost certain that there is a play for 1,2 and 3 to shoot the long ball.

I just checked it out, the score was 84-69 but there were too many FGA.
