It won't be, that's a major what if, and a way to have your current user base turn on you.

So, you release a 199 drive in November of 06. Then in June of 07, you release a new 360, bigger HDD, HDMI cable, better built, with the 199 player built in for 400. Yeah, good way to get future business.

Re: Xbox 360 V2 revealed: Zephyr

I don't get the outrage. The larger HD may or may not be included and even if it's included I'd be shocked if they didn't sell the larger HD as an add-on accessory for early adopters. So really, all you get with 360 v2 is an HDMI out.

HDMI is nice, but is really only necessary for 1080p signals. Even then it won't make much of a difference unless you're sending 1080p material to a 50" or larger TV. My guess is few 360 games will be developed to support 1080p resolution because you sacrifice a lot of resources for little gain (and for a very few people who will be able to tell the difference).

Could an HDMI port been included in 360 v1? Probably, but maybe MS couldn't have hit its price point a 14 months ago if they had included it.

It will be a while before I even get close to owning a 1080p tv so the V2 360 and PS3 are'nt must haves for me YET.
I'll certainly get then 120gHD but the HDMI isn't needed right now in my home.

Anybody that is shocked by this news is a fool.

Tech gets updated all the time. Just look at Gameboy's, DS's, iPods, Xbox controller, PS2, ...
Early adopters always get the shaft. This is nothing new. Nobody is forcing you to buy the 360 v2. If you're so upset about this move, than boycott all Microsoft products.

I wouldn't be shocked if a 360 v3 comes out 1-2 years from now with a built in HD-DVD drive and wifi.

Microsoft's number one goal is to make money. This upgraded console will help them. They know a certain percentage of the people that complain about this move will cave in and buy the new version even if they already own the 360 v1.

Making a new, improved bundled system is not my problem, it's the fact this stuff won't be available to the 8.5 million 360 owners already.
I'm sure that at some point you will be able to buy a larger Hard Drive for your 360 if you want. It may also be possible that the 360 as it is currently designed can have 24 pin to HDMI out cable.

In any event, the photo prompting the rumor is suspect. Why is the serial number and manufacture date blacked out?

and they are already cheapening the manufacturing process. Didn't the early ps2's in japan even play dvd's differently than they did one version later? This happens.

Yeah, Sony released a PS2 about 3 years after launch that played progressive scan DVD's.

If your console is under warranty you could always take it back for the newer version.
