Monitor options for PS3?

I am about to get PS3 and I was wondering what are the options for playing on a Monitor instead of a TV.

Will a HDMI monitor plug right into the PS3 or do I need another piece of hardware.

I will start out with just component canles to a TV but I would like to get monitor specifically for PS3.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have a 22inch gateway it has the DVI,COMPONENT,S-VIDEO,AND ANALOG,but for HDMI,you need an adapter that goes from DVI,to HDMI...I use mine as an option when the TV is going to be used, not sure if there is a HDMI monitor...but give them time,I am sure there will be one.

I have the 20 inch LG widescreen. I also bought an HDMI/DVI cord (whatever the cheapest one is). I think I paid 250 for everything. It looks great.

I went to Best Buy and they really pushed the Gateway one. It was too pricey and I didn't like it when they told me that was the only one I could buy that would give me 720p.

yeah they wanted me to get the 26 inch gateway one or whatever that's well over $600. It doesn't matter the size of the screen, but the resolution.
