Re: Is it repetitive to own a Wii AND a DS?

My wife and I each have a DS and also a Wii in the house. They each cater to different types of games, and we both enjoy both. Games like Elite Beat Agents and New Super Mario Bros. are awesome on the DS.

I will second the Madden Wii approval. I hadn't played a Madden since Madden '99 and been on the NCAA series and 2k series since. I still LOVE 2k, but the franchise depth and just fun gameplay with the Wii-mote and nunchuck are a blast. It's hard to go back and play 2k5 now.....and the depth of Madden is ridiculous (esp. compared to it's "next-gen" brothers).

If you want to play all the old side scrolling Mario games, the DS will get you most of that right now. But you can download Super Mario and Super Mario World on the Wii right now though (plus a lot of other cool old games like Punch-out and Mario 64). The New Super Mario Bros game is a DS only title though and it is very good.

If you want to play Zelda games, the choice is easy, get the Wii. You can buy the Gamecube Zelda collector's disc off ebay which has all but Link to the Past and Gamecube's Zelda Windwaker on it, the Wii can play Gamecube discs, you just need a cube controller and memory card. Also on the Wii, you can download A Link to the Past, so you'll have all the console Zeldas except for Windwaker which you can easily buy somewhere. I don't think Gameboy Color games play on the DS, but to play the Zelda games for the GBA and the new DS one (not sure if it is out yet), you'll have to get a DS.

There's also a Castlevania available to download on the Wii, I'm not sure which one, check the Wii Virtual Console thread.

Isn't it kinda funny how the Wii version of Madden was far superior to both the PS3 and 360 versions last year? Just funny to me how Madden has taken a step back on the more powerful consoles.

Thanks guys for all the replies.

I'm beginning to lean towards buying a DS in March and a Wii sometime in the mid/late summer.

DS Wishlist: Diddy-kong racing; New Super Mario; Metroid Pinball; latest Castlevania; latest Zelda.

I second this, big time.

Also, consider Clubhouse Games and Elite Beat Agents.

What makes it so much better? With the draft coming up I am getting the urge to play a football game.
