I personally had to go through 3 fat PS2's and my current slim-line is still working perfectly. I never heard about people having many problems with the PS2, and I took good care of mine and everything, but I just couldn't keep the fat versions working for long.

Good point, I'm on my second fat one and I have to jimmy it around sometimes to make it work, kind of a slide in the disc to play Socom everyonce in a while to get a fix. Still on my first 360 but it's only been a year... keeping my fingers crossed with a BB warranty in place, the games are beautiful no doubt.

regardless of how many I went through, you could get DDE or dead laser ps2's off of ebay since forever. It was a nice way to get one cheap with some repairs.

The 360 is starting to get like that now. I saw a dead 360 auction end for like $50.

I had only one fat PS2 ever, because once I got the DRE it took about 15 minutes to find a guide online and then fix the problem myself. It was a really easy repair, however the 360 problems seem much more severe.

I went through 5 ps2 lieterally. The network adapters would screw the thing up. And it was played daly because I would use it with my youth ministry. I am on my 2nd 360 but I am warrantied up for 2 years. But I love the 360, best gaming machine ever, period.

1, a launch unit no less. I sold it to a friend last year and it's still going strong for him.

1 for me as well. I didn't get it at launch but shortly after.

I highly prefer the PS2, but whatever floats your boat.
