Can someone please explain the warranty system on Xbox 360s for me? Microsoft offers a 1 year warranty don't they? Can that be extended to 2 years? How much does that cost?

I'd love to grab an X360 but the warranty cost from a Gamestop or Best Buy is a little much. I was hoping that Microsoft's would be cheaper, but I'd really want a 2 year warranty.

X-BOX360 is a great system for the money but the two I've owned broke down. The reliablity of the 360 is not good so you may want to take that in consideration. Much cheaper than a PS3 which I purchased a week ago and having a hard time getting use to the controller.

Re: X-Box 360: Is it worth it?

Just today I was reading about all the titles coming our way on the 360.

Most of the titles that stood out to me are 360 exclusives. It seems to me this system (despite its problems) is growing huge momentum.

To answer your question of if it's worth it. In it's first 2 years, no..it's not.

Come this fall, I think it'll definately be worth it.

IMO it's not worth owning a 360 until they implement the new chipset. If that helps keep 360's from dying right out of the box then I'd strongly consider buying another 360.

The PS3 covers all my gaming needs at the moment and it hasn't even begun (with Home, exclusive titles).

Re: X-Box 360: Is it worth it?

Having gone through a 360 (RIP) and now being an owner of a PS3, I'd say there's no real rush. The 'next gen' hasn't really gotten off the ground yet. Frankly, if this summer's football titles don't live up to expectations, the entire first 18 months of the 'generation' will have been a waste of time, imo.

Re: X-Box 360: Is it worth it?

Wildcat I am in a similar boat as well (except married). I've been thinking about a 360 for a while, but not really sure if I want to shell out the money. Between work, playings hoops twice a week, taking care of a house, and husband duties, I'm not sure how much time I will actually play it. (Had UCLA made it the final game and won me about $400, it would've been a no-brainer). I'd really like to check out some of the 360 shooters like FEAR and Perfect Dark and the NBA 2k series.
The other problem I'm facing is that we have older house and most of our outlets are not grounded. I've got my old Xbox hooked up to a non-grounded outlet, but I'm worried about a 360 overheating and burning my house down. Don't know if I want to shell out a couple hundred bucks to an electrician just to be able to play video games.
This probably doesn't help you, but just wanted to get my two cents in.
