PS3 Owners, did you get a product replacement plan or extended warranty?

Hi Guys,

Been wanting to get a PS3 for a while now and just recently saved the money to buy one. However was wondering if those that bought the PS3 also picked up a product replacement plan or extended warranty? It seems after reading these boards and those on other sites that the PS3 does not break down as much as the XBOX 360 and that people that have a PS3 do not have the fear of the "3 rings of death" when turning on their PS3. With that said was wondering if it was necessary to get some kind of product replacement plan or extended warranty when I do pick up a PS3. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes.

Yes, the PS3 isn't have the problems that the 360 is having, but IMO if you spend $650 on a piece of equipment, why not spend another $50ish for 3 years of coverage in case ANYTHING goes wrong. A no-brainer IMO.

I did, but I don't like shipping stuff off and waiting for it to return. Sony offers a one year warranty of the bat so you might not need to.

I never buy warranties that run concurrent with the manufacture's warranty. I like that for my HDTV, I was offered a warranty after my manufactures warranty expired, it made it easy to give them the money. Warranty never crossed my mine when it came to the PS3.

Negative. I have the 1 year with Sony, already used it once. Even though their phone people were morons, I had a new PS3 in about a week.

Yes. I always get the warranty with electronics. The one time I didn't (26" widescreen LCD TV) I have problems with it.

anyone know how much the product replacement plan is at Best Buy? And is it for one or two years? I know the one at Gamestop is $70 for 1 year. also do these warranties run concurrent with the manufacturer warranty or does the extended warranty kick in after the manufacturer warranty expires?

I bought the warranty from Best Buy.
