Cables?
I know this has been talked about before but I cannot find the thread. Are there some kind of cables I am supposed to get that do not come w/ the ps3 and where do I get them? Do I have to go online or do they have them at Gamestop etc. Any help would be appreciated and sorry for bringing up something that has already been discussed.Tags: None -
Re: Cables?
i am assuming you have an HDTV. Either HDMI cables or component cables will work great. I use component cables. They are anywhere from 20 bucs to 100 bucs, from what ive seen and heard it makes no difference, I got 20 dollar cabels and they work fine. If you already have component PS2 cables they will work with the PS3 too. You can get then anywhere, Gamestop, best buy... Hope i helped, maybe someone with more knowledge than me can help you out as well.I know this has been talked about before but I cannot find the thread. Re: Cables?
Any HDMI cable will work, and you can get them at any store that sells electronics. Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, Wal-Mart, Meijer, Radio Shack, etc. It does not have to be made by Sony or specifically made for gaming, nor do you have to buy the ones found at EB Games or Gamestop.
Just make sure your television has an HDMI input before you buy. My 4-year old HDTV does not. It's only a video game.Comment

Yeah you need either Component or HDMI cable if your tv supports either one. This is the only thing Sony could have done better with the launch of the PS3 in my mind. Wish they would have included atleast component cables.PSN: ckarlic

Re: Cables?
Dude DO NOT buy them from a store. I hope you havent made that wasteful purchase. Go to MONOPRICE.COM. I bought 4 HD cables for $7.00 a cable. It is a digital signal and Monster cables are no better than the rum dum cables I bought. Save 50 - 100 bucks and go to monoprice.Michael: Fredo, you're my older brother, and I love you. Re: Cables?
I've heard alot of people say this, but I'm not ready to buy in to that theory. If you don't purchase $100 cables, then how do you know your $7 jobbie is just as good? In most cases, you get what you pay for. I know I purchased a $20 Phillips HDMI cable from Target, and it absolutely sucks. There is a massive amount of cracking and popping when playing the PS3, watching DVD's, or watching HD television from my Comcast DVR.Dude DO NOT buy them from a store. There is a reason why they are selling you a $7 cable, and it's not because they feel like being nice or because they're interested in saving you money. It's only a video game.Comment

Re: Cables?
It is a digital signal. All digital cables have to meet the same requirements or they wont work. One digital feed is no bettere or worse than the next. If it were analog signals it woould be completely different. Also, have you heard of paying for the name? Monster cables are cool looking cables. They have the gold tips, thick gray wire, very tantalizing I know, but they aren't any better than the cheapos. As for the cracking and popping, myself as well as three other friends havethae same cables and none of us have that problem.I've heard alot of people say this, but I'm not ready to buy in to that theory.
