PS3 headset

Is there some sort of trick I'm missing out on to get a headset working consistently with the PS3?

I picked up a Motorola 350 for it, and it's been pretty hit or miss to this point. Sometimes it works with MotorStorm, sometimes it doesn't. It's paired every time I turn the PS3 on, but sometimes I have to go into audio devices and connect it; sometimes I don't. Sometimes it hangs while trying to connect. It's getting pretty frustrating.

I have a 350 as well, but for some reason it works a helluva lot better since the 1.8 update.
