Thinking of getting a PS3

I've been going back and forth on getting a xbox 360 or ps3, but I'm thinking about the PS3 since I mostly play sports games...

Is it a good idea to get a new 60gb ps3 now at $499 or wait a little bit for a price drop??

hm I'm not completely sold quite yet on whether I want a 360 or PS3...I do mostly play sports games..but the 360 is cheaper but the PS3 is easier for Rosters...

I have them both and the PS3 is a dust collector even with "ease" of rosters. Online totally blows and I actually prefer the 360 controllers. Plus I'll end up getting new PS3 controllers once they get the rumble added back in.
I could care less about BR also, but that's just me. When the "war" is decided then I'll buy a stand alone player for either HD-DVD or BR. Right now I just want a gaming machine and the PS3 falls way behind in that category IMO.
In a year or so that will hopefully be different but right now if you want to game (sports and others), the 360 is your best choice IMO.

Well, after long and deliberate deliberation, I chose the PS3 2 weeks ago when CC was offering a free controller with it...my 3 genres are:

1. Sports (Love the Show over any other sports game, plus NFL2k5 is BC)
2. Fighting (Love Tekken and DOA Equally, but also love KOF 2006)
3. Racing (Love PGR over any other racing game)

I hate FPS and adventure games, but I really liked Halo. With that in mind, I think Warhawk would fill that void for me on PS3, just judging by the way it looks.

I love RTS, which are on 360, but I have no time for them.

For all the other factors, I did a little breakdown which looks like this. All the prices include tax, reflect the price after the systems' respective markdowns, and includes a $40 off coupon I have for Circuit City.

Gran Turismo and F1 makes the Ps3 the winner for racing pour moi.

Also, the Ps3 has one more basketball game than the 360, by default it should win as well just for having an extra game. It could potentially be a good one down the road who knows.

The main thing for me is the rosters and how easy they are to get onto your PS3. Really quick, no fuss...that's a big plus.

I also like the sixasis control for basketball games...shooting free throws, late in a tight game, you really feel the pressure...if you're shaking or sweating, it actually affects your shot. A nice bit of realism.

I can see them really adding a lot of extra stuff via the sixasis over time.

You're not referring to the stellar NBA series by Sony. Yeah I would buy a PS3 just for that.
